More on earning Avios from Nutmeg
On Tuesday I discussed the new partnership between Avios and Nutmeg.
Nutmeg is an innovative online wealth management service which offers a fully managed, discretionary, investment service at a far lower cost than its competitors. If you are using St James’s Place, Hargreaves Lansdown etc then the Nutmeg fee structure of 0.3% – 0.95% should be of interest.
Using exchange-traded funds, Nutmeg offers no set fees, no transaction fees, no trading fees, no exit fees and no commission. You only pay your annual management fee. Your Money voted them the ‘best online Stocks and Shares ISA provider’ for 2015.
As I mentioned on Tuesday, Nutmeg has launched a refer a friend scheme which would allow you to earn 5,000 to 10,000 Avios, depending on how much you invested.
The company got in touch to point out that this offer is open to anyone, with no referral needed. Simply visit this page and you can open an account without a referral.
American Airlines charging a seating fee if you book seats via ba.com
As you have probably noticed, it is possible to book transatlantic cash flights on American Airlines using ba.com. This is because AA and BA have a joint venture on transatlantic flights, whereby they pool revenue and services. The airlines share your money irrespective of who operates your flight.
That is why I was surprised to see this article from Miles From Blighty.
AA has a $35 seating fee if you do not buy your ticket directly from aa.com. This fee applies even if you buy your ticket from ba.com. oneworld elite members can still avoid the fee but everyone else must pay. This means that, if you are planning to buy an AA transatlantic flight, you are better off booking on aa.com rather than ba.com, even though you would lose out on the triple Avios for BA spending on the BA Premium Plus American Express.
Let Uber help you beat the Piccadilly Line tube strike
Uber has announced that UberPOOL, its ride sharing service, will be extended from Central London to cover the entire Piccadilly Line area.
UberPOOL gives you a 25% discount on the price of your Uber X (Toyota Prius or equivalent) ride if you agree to the driver picking up another passenger heading in the same direction. You receive the discount even if no other passenger is found.
As a typical fare, the company quotes Edgware Road to London Heathrow from £23.20 via UberPOOL.
