Hilton HHonors recently published its latest list of price changes for the points required to book a Hilton reward night.
As far as the UK is concerned, there is only one item to note. The Hilton Brighton Metropole will drop from Category 6 to Category 5 on 13th January.
Of the new hotels, we have already discussed Hilton Bournemouth which is Category 6. Other recent openings include Hilton Bankside in London, Hampton by Hilton Bristol City Centre, Doubletree Ricoh Arena Coventry, Doubletree Edinburgh Queensferry Crossing, Hampton Oxford, Doubletree Liverpool and the Hilton Cambridge (covered here).
The Category 1 bargains
I have written before about the handful of Hilton properties around the world which cost just 5,000 points per night. Status members can book these hotels for just 4,000 points per night when booked in chunks of five nights.
When you remember that Hilton Park Lane in London can now reach 90,000 points per night, you can see that there are some bargains here.
I ran a reader review of the best of the 5,000 point properties, in Oman, last year.
A new hotel has now joined the 5,000 points per night list for new bookings from January 13th.
The Hilton Taba Resort and Nelson Village in Egypt (nearest airport Taba, photo above) drops from Category 3 to Category 1.
The TripAdvisor reviews are generally positive. Cash rates in the Hilton Winter Sale are very low at the moment so, even at 5,000 points, it is only a good deal and not an astounding one. If you are looking to use your Hilton points for a very cheap break, however, it could well be of interest.
You really can’t go wrong at 5,000 points per night. Put it this way …. the sign-up bonus on the free Amex Gold charge card (20,000 points) would convert to 40,000 Hilton points which would get you at least eight free nights.
