What Nick got for 37,500 Avios + £52 on Aer Lingus business class to Boston

I covered the new Aer Lingus long haul routes to Hartford, Newark and Los Angeles on Head for Points yesterday.
As this is likely to spur renewed interest in redeeming Avios on Aer Lingus, I thought I would run these photos sent in by HFP reader Nick who took a one-way redemption from Dublin to Boston recently. It cost the princely sum of 25,000 Avios (he booked before the April devaluation) and £52 in tax.
I wrote a long Avios Redemption University piece recently about redeeming Avios points for Aer Lingus long-haul business class. The best deal is Dublin to Boston. Because this is just under 3,000 miles, it costs only 75,000 Avios points return.
Nick was lucky enough to get the new business class seating as you can see in the pictures below. It does look very acceptable, especially the single seats by the windows.
First, here are a couple of shots of the bright and spacious lounge in Dublin:

Here is one the solo window seats:
and here is a side view of the centre pair – note the 19 inch TV screens:
Nick was also very positive about the food:

All in all, you really can’t go wrong for 37,500 Avios and £52 one-way, plus the cost of getting to Dublin.
You can learn more about the other Aer Lingus routes to the US and Canada in my article from three weeks ago here, albeit that this has not been updated to include the announcement this week.
