British Airways has brought back its special offer on ‘part pay with Avios’ until 19th October.

As you see on the ‘Part Pay With Avios’ page at ba.com, there are substantial savings to be made at the moment if you use ‘part pay’ for a Club World or First booking.

If:

you are flying to Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Bangkok, Beijing, Bengaluru, Chengdu Shuangliu, Chicago, Dallas – Forth Worth, Delhi Indira Ghandi International, Dubai, Hong Kong, Houston, Hyderabad, JFK, Kuala Lumpur International, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Montreal, Mumbai, Newark, Philadelphia International, San Francisco International, Seoul, Shanghai Pudong, Singapore Changi, Toronto, Vancouver, Washington

you can redeem Avios points for the following discounts:

That is an exceptionally generous 1.66p per Avios point.

Blatantly borrowing an example highlighted at Flyertalk, here is a great deal available from Copenhagen for flights to New York next Summer:

Yes, just 9,607 DKK return in Club World. That is £964!

However, let’s move down the page. As you can below, I can save 5,035 DKK by redeeming 30,000 Avios points.

This means that the final cost of my Club World return flight is just 4,572 DKK – or £459.

Yes, I’ve had to spend 30,000 Avios points as well. Yes, I need to make my way to Copenhagen to start my trip. However, for comparison, the cheapest BA economy ticket on the same day costs over £1,000 at the moment ….

        I cannot seem to get Multi-City to work for the Avios reduction either. That makes AF at £930 for J the cheapest.

Still available – but it does seem that it’s only valid from July – this isn’t stated in the article, so I’m just assuming it is.

I don’t have enough avios at the moment but I’ve transferred some over from Amex. It will take 2 days to arrive, so if everybody could hold off on booking stuff until I’ve managed to book my flights I’d really appreciate it.

A friend has booked Economy AA LHR to JFK *shudders*

Last time I flew this it was LCY to JFK on the baby bus. 🙂 I logged onto Manage my booking and it recognised my BA Gold status (thanks Rob et al for helping me get that, and having great holidays!) and has allowed me to book Main Cabin Extra for free, I presume Premium Economy. Quick check on seat Guru, and we’re booked in.

Is this a known benefit that I’ve overlooked? This is certainly a huge benefit to us, and we’ll have the First Class Lounge at LHR and I presume JFK (though not Flagship lounge as per 1st Class LAX on my first First flight on HNL Tier Point Run *remembers the bottle of Champers the Crew gave me to “celebrate in New York” sighs*

I know HfP is mostly premium (I don’t turn right) but thought I’d share this. Sorry if EVERYONE knows this, d’oh and feel free to flame, it’s quite cold in Newcatle! 🙂

  Depending on the plane, MCE could vary from more desirable seats (positions on the plane, so used to be exit rows etc on smaller planes, as well as more legroom near the front of the plane), and on the larger planes you got more of a World Traveller Plus experience (extra leg room and less seats in a row) – however I saw an article the other day saying this was changing and they are adjusting the MCE experience to have the same amount of seats in a row as economy 🙁

  Hi – I flew on AA a couple of years back, I was (still am) BAEC Bronze, and upon entering my BAEC number in the AA reservation, it also allowed me to choose MCE seats for free. Granted it was a 767 which probably hadn’t been refitted since the mid 90’s, but we got roomier seats right at the front of the economy cabin.

Is there any way to extend the length of the layovers at LHR in either direction?

All the flight options shown seem to have very tight connections – or certainly not enough time to relax between sectors in the lounges.

Hi all, tempted by this but have two questions…

It seems to price up ok on BA’s website using AA to/from. Would I still pick up the BA TP’s and avios flying AA on the LHR-JFK-LHR. Also, do AA run only the 300ER on this route?

  Hi Conor, once you put your BAEC no in e boarding pass you will get the TPs. We just got ours all credited from QR J, and we are both almost silver. Just got to fly your 4 xBA sectors, so those on AA wouldn’t count if you are trying for sliver. But yes you get both TPs and avios. Am actually surprised that AA priced up, as I wouldn’t think BA would want to share this perk with AA. But good luck with the planning.
