British Airways has brought back its special offer on ‘part pay with Avios’ until 19th October.

As you see on the ‘Part Pay With Avios’ page at ba.com, there are substantial savings to be made at the moment if you use ‘part pay’ for a Club World or First booking.

If:

you are flying to Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Bangkok, Beijing, Bengaluru, Chengdu Shuangliu, Chicago, Dallas – Forth Worth, Delhi Indira Ghandi International, Dubai, Hong Kong, Houston, Hyderabad, JFK, Kuala Lumpur International, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Montreal, Mumbai, Newark, Philadelphia International, San Francisco International, Seoul, Shanghai Pudong, Singapore Changi, Toronto, Vancouver, Washington

you book by 19th October

you can redeem Avios points for the following discounts:

That is an exceptionally generous 1.66p per Avios point.

Blatantly borrowing an example highlighted at Flyertalk, here is a great deal available from Copenhagen for flights to New York next Summer:

Yes, just 9,607 DKK return in Club World. That is £964!

However, let’s move down the page. As you can below, I can save 5,035 DKK by redeeming 30,000 Avios points.

This means that the final cost of my Club World return flight is just 4,572 DKK – or £459.

Yes, I’ve had to spend 30,000 Avios points as well. Yes, I need to make my way to Copenhagen to start my trip. However, for comparison, the cheapest BA economy ticket on the same day costs over £1,000 at the moment ….

This is very, very tempting! It looks like the cheap fares are for July, and I was planning a trip for May, but the play I want to see will still be running. Hmm. I’d have to do an Amex transfer – any idea if these fares from Copenhagen are a time-limited sale?

  Check the small print – ex Europe fares are usually more flexible than ex London with BA.
  
  However, ignore any change fees shown. What you pay is the change fee plus any difference in fare – and as this offer will be over, the fare difference could be huge!
  
  The only thing to look for would be the option to cancel for a few hundred Euros.

I really they hope they run these again, as I’m not really in a position to book this now either. Has this kind of thing been done before?

Are BA1-4 included? Ba.com won’t give them as options, but I’m assuming the offer still works if you call? A great opportunity to try to the babybus.

  BA1-4 may be excluded under the full fare rules – you would need to use the ITA Matrix tool to pull those up. I didn’t see them yesterday when I was playing with this.

        BA will try to insist your bag is checked through to Copenhagen unless you build in a long London stopover, which may incur a stopover fee or not even be allowed under the fare rules.

        I would be tempted just to miss the whole flight completely back from the US and book a separate flight with cash. There are some good Club deals back from Florida to Gatwick. I wonder if you could cancel the flight back but keep the outbound flight from Copenhagen after booking.
