Thistle Hotels scraps Signature – last chance to claim free Sunday night and free Sunday lunch

  I see that the limit for the lunch is £25 so might not get you all 3 courses. Still good though. Also begs the question whether children can be signed up?

  I presume that date is the same for the free meal voucher (£60) After umpteen stays in the Euston hotel, which is great, I was going to use the voucher in my home town of Glasgow.

  At least the Euston property will still be there for me on my trips to London……….

    Euston was lucky that they had their refurb a couple of years ago. The aim is to get the Thistles up to Euston’s standards but I am not even sure that they will retain the Thistle brand long term.

  My wife works for GLH and they have implemented a “revolutionary” (in the words of their American CEO) structure in which they have individual agents to look after the guest before, during and after the visit. They have spent the last 18 months building up their client database and expanding it. Each remaining hotel has been divided into “mini-sections” with their own managers and have been given a revenue target and have the discretion to tailor the guest experience as required. They can upgrade a person to better view, offer free lunches, evening drinks, whatever they think is appropriate. They also liaise with other departments to ensure that guest requests are actioned. For example, they could arrange a tour of the tower of london followed by a speedboat trip on the thames followed by evening drinks on the lawn, etc etc.

  Going back to Thistle’s, the standards of the hotels varied greatly and one benefit of them cutting back outside of London is that they can invest in the properties and get them up to the mark. The whole point of Signature was to build up a database of potential guests and nothing else.

  Overall aim for GLH is to have 3 brands:

  Claremont – Luxury 5* hotels starting with the Royal Horseguards and another two in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

  Amba – Solid 4* hotels without the extra’s such as a Restaurant or coffee shop. More focus on rooms for the business traveller with solid fast wi-fi.

  The 3rd brand will be independent branded hotels such as The Tower or The Cumberland.

  GLH are also planning to open in 100 cities overseas over the next 10 years.

  Trying to book our Free Lunch On Sunday at Heathrow. Hoping to sit out on the terrace of the First Edition restaurant, tried to call to book but apparently no-one there at the moment to take a booking…

  It’s not clear from the website whether it actually serves lunch. Does anyone know? It’s also not clear precisely what ‘lunch’ means and whether it is actually restricted to the middle part of the day, or whether it can be used on Sunday evening…

    To answer my own question, no it isn’t open for lunch but they will accept the vouchers for dinner instead.

  Anyone know how long the lunch voucher lasts for and whether you can use more than one voucher in your party? ie go with three other people who have each signed up for the loyalty scheme? Thanks
