Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

LAST CHANCE: 1,000 Clubcard points (2,400 Avios) for joining TopCashback TODAY

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

This is your final reminder that today, Saturday, is your last full day to pick up a very easy 2,400 Avios or 2,500 Virgin Flying Club miles via cashback shopping site TopCashback.

Until 10am on Sunday morning, you will receive 1,000 Tesco Clubcard points – convertible into 2,400 Avios points or 2,500 Virgin Flying Club miles – when you sign up to TopCashback for free and earn just £10 in cashback.

TopCashback works with many major internet retailers and pays you a small commission for every purchase you make after clicking through to their site. If you current use the Avios e-store, the British Airways Gate 365 shopping mall or the Virgin Flying Club Shops Away site, you should consider moving across to TopCashback instead.

Earn Avios for signing up

What makes TopCashback unique among cashback sites is that it allows you to pay your cashback directly into your Tesco Clubcard account – and gives you a 5% bonus on top.

This dramatically increased the value of TopCashback cashback versus a site such as Quidco:

£10 of cashback earned at Quidco earns you £10

£10 of cashback earned at TopCashback earns you £10.50 (with the 5% bonus) paid into your Tesco Clubcard account. That gives you 1,050 Clubcard points. These convert into 2,520 Avios points or 2,625 Virgin Flying Club miles. You are effectively ‘buying’ Avios points for just 0.4p each.

You can transfer up to £50 of cashback per year from TopCashback to Clubcard (a year runs from the date of your first Tesco transfer, not the calendar year or from the date you joined). This means that you can earn up to 12,000 Avios per year this way. Your 1,000 Clubcard points sign-up bonus does NOT count towards your £50 per year cap.

Once you have hit your £50 annual cap on transferring to Clubcard, you can transfer further cashback directly to Avios points if you want. For every £1 of cashback you earn, you will have the choice of taking £1 as cash into Paypal or your bank account or receiving 105 Avios points.

How to join TopCashback

To receive the 1,000 Tesco Clubcard points for signing up, you MUST use this link here (click). Note that you will NOT see the offer if you are already logged in to a TCB account – log out and click again.

This offer cannot be combined with the standard TopCashback refer-a-friend offer. You must use the link above to join.

There is no time limit on how long you have to earn your £10 cashback – a month, three months, six months, whatever. You therefore have little to lose, if you are not already a member, by signing up now.

There are two membership levels at TopCashback – a free version and a £5 annual fee version. The £5 level pays slightly higher cashback and has improved customer service if you have any problems. However, you will receive the 1,000 Clubcard points whichever level you choose. To be honest, I would start at the free level (you will find the option in your profile once you have registered) and only upgrade when you have decided that you like the site.

What next?

If you are not already a TopCashback member, you should open a TopCashback account now and use it for your day-to-day online shopping instead of Quidco.

(If you are already a member, why not refer your partner – as long as they have their own Clubcard account? In fact, you should encourage every member of your British Airways household account to sign-up.)

You may want to take a look at some of ‘easy money’ offers on TopCashback, or even their ‘free money’ offers. If you know what you are doing, some of the gambling and bingo sites offer effectively free money for signing up and betting a small minimum. You can minimise losses by having your partner sign up and then taking opposite win/lose bets on the same sporting event.

My verdict

TopCashback has run various sign-up bonuses over the last couple of years where they have offered Clubcard points. However, they have never offered a bonus as generous as this one. This is as good a time as any to join if you haven’t got around to it yet.

The link to sign up – for free – is here. The offer runs until 10am on Sunday morning, so don’t delay.

    None AFAIK

  • Steven says:

I have joined up via HFP link. I’ve not clicked through to any purchase but it now says I have £10 cash back pending/earned but £0 payment/confirmed. Unless I’ve read the offer wrong, but I thought the £10 cash back had to be earned via purchases. This reads like it has already been earned but awaiting confirmation?

    • Rob says:

It sits in Pending until you earn £10. The original £10 will then switch over to Confirmed but with a restriction that it can only be withdrawn via Tesco.

It is a bit fiddly but at least you can see that you will get the £10 / 1000 points.

  • Waribai says:

How risky is it to open a 2nd account?

    • bob says:

For your spouse/ sibling etc with a bank a/c in their own name – no real risk.

Doubling up for yourself – they don’t like that & you risk a/cs suspension. I suppose a slightly different name, different bank a/c and different address could be hard to detect.

  • will says:

signed up the wife early this morning

    cheers
