Renting with Avis in June? Credit to Iberia Plus instead of British Airways for more Avios

Iberia Plus recently adopted Avis as its exclusive car hire partner. This was a shame. Iberia used to partner with various car rental groups including Hertz, Euromaster and Sixt. It meant that you could still earn Avios points even though British Airways only used Avis.
Another arbitrage bites the dust …..
Until the end of June, Avis is offering 1,000 bonus Avios on every Avis rental when you credit it to Iberia Plus. This is on top of the standard 500 Avios points. You will need to give an Iberia Plus number and move your Avios across to BA or avios.com later via ‘Combine My Avios’.
Importantly, you still get the free additional driver which you would also get via the avisba.com site.
A minimum 3 days rental of a Group C or above car is required.
The Iberia / Avis site is here.
The standard British Airways deal via avisba.com for a comparable 3-day rental is 700 Avios plus an additional 250 if you pay with a British Airways American Express card.
You will be at least 550 Avios better off by using the Iberia site.
The only exception is if you are renting an expensive car, as the BA offer gives you a higher rate of 3 Avios per £1 if that is more lucrative than the standard 700 Avios.
