100 Avios if you persuade a Clubcard-collecting friend of the wonders of avios.com

Is avios.com feeling the pressure, post devaluation, of persuading Tesco Clubcard collectors of the wonders of the scheme?

It may be, because they have come up with one of the least rewarding refer-a-friend deals ever seen 🙂

If you can persuade a Tesco Clubcard-carrying friend to convert vouchers for the first time to avios.com, you will receive 100 bonus Avios points.  Your friend will also receive 100 bonus Avios points.  Control your excitement at the back ….

Note that you CAN take advantage of this offer if you have previously converted to British Airways Executive Club.  All that matters is that you have not converted into an avios.com account before.

Keen to trip you up, the promotion comes with complex rules:

You, as referrer, MUST have previously converted Clubcard points to avios.com

Your friend MUST NEVER have previously converted Clubcard points to avios.com

Your friend must not be a member of an avios.com Household Account

You must know the email address which your friend has linked to their Tesco Clubcard account and also the email address linked to your Clubcard account

To trip you up further, the email promoting this scheme says that

“they get 100 bonus Avios for the first time they exchange £10 of vouchers”

However, the small print says:

“You will be awarded 100 Avios for every friend who exchanges a minimum of £2.50 in Tesco Clubcard vouchers for Avios”

And if the bonus Avios points don’t post for either of you?

“no correspondence will be entered into.”

However, it isn’t quite that bad

There is a competition linked to this process which makes it slightly more interesting.

If your friend makes their first conversion before 26th June, you will both be entered into a competition.  Four winners will each share 200,000 Avios points between the referrer and the referred person whilst 600 runners-up will each share 2,000 Avios points.

This sweetens the deal a bit.

Whether your friend needs to convert £2.50 or £10 of vouchers to enter, of course, is still up for debate!  The competition rules do mention £2.50 but the covering email says £10.  I would assume £2.50.
