News in brief:

Uber sign-up credit now £15

If you haven’t tried out the cab app Uber yet, now is an excellent opportunity.  The ‘first ride’ bonus you get when you sign up via HfP is now £15.

The credit is valid for three months so it is worth signing up even if you won’t be in an Uber city for a few weeks.

The £15 is valid against your first ride.  Unused credit is lost so it is best to make your first ride a longer one – or take an UberLUX and arrive in a Mercedes S-Class!

Uber is currently available in London, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Wakefield and Newcastle.  It is also operates outside the UK but the £15 credit is only valid for a ride in the UK.

To claim your £15 credit, simply download the Uber app for your smartphone and enter the code HEADFORPOINTS on the payment page.

50 free passes to the Plaza Premium lounges in Heathrow up for grabs

Travelling through Terminal 2 or Terminal 4 before May 15th?  Or even Hong Kong? Airport lounge app loungebuddy – which I profiled last week – is giving away 50 passes to the Plaza Premium lounges in Heathrow T2, Heathrow T4 and Hong Kong.

Simply email support@loungebuddy.com with ‘Plaza Premium Free Lounge Visit’ in the subject line.  The first 50 people to respond will get a free access pass added to their loungebuddy account, so you will need to download the app if you get one.

Remember, you MUST be using T2 or T4 departures at Heathrow or Hong Kong T1 departures or T4 arrivals by May 15th.  This is a relatively small group of people so your chances of getting a pass are pretty good.  Note that the Plaza Premium arrivals lounge in Terminal 2 is NOT included.

  • What's the Point says:

The Plaza Premium at T2 is a very nice place to spend a few hours. I preferred it to BA Galleries T5

  • Sean says:

Travelling through LHR T2 next week, but thanks to your last competition I already have lounge access + a free massage for 2 people, thanks!

  • Tom C says:

These Uber Lux journeys are becoming too common with your discounts. One could get used to the life….

  • pol says:

OT but Virgin have announced a reward seat sale, bit different from the usual set % of. It’s a set 25,000 miles in Economy to Miami, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Washington DC and Detroit. Good availability in most months until next April too.

    • n says:

£249 + £34 + 25k points vs fares of ~£600 brings redemption to being around 1.2p per point.

      Worth it?

  • MARK says:

Slightly off topic but clubcard points related. bought an amazon fire tv stick with the 500 pts offer – took it back and still showing the points with no return of the 500 pts. will these be retracted at a later date or is this the norm? cheers

    • Matthew says:

If you return in store and they don’t ask for your clubcard, the points usually stay on.

      • Mark says:

Awesom! Definately didnt ask for my clubcard so fingers crossed!!

    • Georgie says:

Did you buy in store or buy from Direct? If you bought in store and returned in store you should be OK. If you bought from Tesco Direct they normally remove the points later (end of quarter maybe).

  • Dave H says:

OTT but 3v Visa cards have reappeared in my Tesco after a six month absence, still the old branding not the new pay.com

  • Judy says:

I’ve downloaded the Uber app and entered my card details but I can’t see where you enter the code “uberheadforpoints”. When and where do I enter this? Do I have to book a journey first? Thanks.

    • Judy says:

I worked it out thanks. You need to click on “Promotions” and then enter the code.

      Thanks HFP!

  • Jack says:

Has anyone else had their Amex (BAPP) declined when trying to add it on the payment page? Tried several times, details are definitely correct. Call Amex and ask I suppose?
