£780 Club World tickets to Hong Kong available, bookable for all of 2015

Perhaps it is the fact that Qatar now owns 10% of BA’s parent company that is encouraging BA to follow Qatar Airways into ultra-low pricing?

I’m not sure what other explanation there can be for this astonishing fare to Hong Kong which is currently available from all British Airways departure points in Germany.

This is NOT a fare mistake.  It is a published fare with detailed fare rules.

British Airways is currently selling return Club World tickets to Hong Kong from Germany for £595 plus taxes and surcharges.

There are NO advance purchase requirements – you can fly tomorrow if you want.  The only rule is that you stay away for six days.

You do NOT need to fly directly to Hong Kong.  You can also fly from Germany to London to Singapore, Shanghai, Bangkok, Chengdu, Beijing or Kuala Lumpur, and then connect to Hong Kong using another oneworld airline.

Free stopovers are allowed.

If you try to book this ticket on ba.com it will price at around £1,050 – £1,100 depending on routing.

However, there is a better way.  Due to local restrictions, websites in Hong Kong add only minimal fuel surcharges to tickets originating or ending in Hong Kong.

Visit expedia.com.hk and book there.  You will see that it prices out at roughly £780 return (HK$9,300).  If you want to build in stopovers, use the Expedia multi-city booking option.

Tickets must be booked by April 30th and you must start your trip before July 5th.  However, it seems that you only need to fly from Germany to London by July 5th – if you don’t mind paying the Air Passenger Duty (another £150 or so) then you can have a stopover in the UK until April 2016 if you want!

Here is an example with a huge Summer-long stopover in London at £957:

Have a play around at expedia.com.hk and see what you can find.  Note that availability over Christmas is very slim as the required fare class is rarely available.

I’m unable to build in a stopover? I’m looking for DUS-LHR-HKG, PEK-HKG-LHR-DUS but it isn’t coming up with anything (well, it comes up with a combination of BA/VS/CZ, or TK). I have tried inputting the flights separately as well.

DUS-LHR-HKG-LHR-DUS on the same dates works fine…

    • Polly says:

Think you might have to do the HKG PEK HKG yourself using avios or LCC like Air Asia . Looks like the 5 sectors are used up. That’s what our friends are doing, flying CX avios in J further afield.

      • Alex says:

But then surely the stopover would be moot? I’m not looking at 6 flights, I’m looking at DUS-LHR-HKG, PEK-HKG-LHR-DUS, that’s 5 🙂

  • Marco Pierre says:

Would be a good time to make use of / lock-in these type of fares before the earning rates are reduced.

  • SH says:

Hi all, great fare! Tried to book as suggested FRA-HKG with a stopover in BKK but did not get the price. How can I do it? Expedia shows a much higher fare. I tried several different options. Any idea? We would want to maximise TP with the additional 80 for domestic HKG to BKK.

  • Sean says:

Get the prices and sectors showing correctly but when I add all the passenger and payment info I kicks me straight out of the site.
Tried calling Expedia but they say they can only book three sectors.
Anyone actually booked this and got confirmation?
    Thanks

Which is the cheapest city to fly from in these Ex-EU deals by Qatar?

    • Polly says:

ARN to HKT priced up today for Nov at £814 pp, absolute steal! Then next up is AMS then CPH £946 pp , all brilliant prices. You really have to search hard for the shorter layovers though.

    • Rob says:

Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Oslo, Brussels seem to be cheapest.

  • Phillip says:

Although not as cheaply, even Cathay has dropped the price GER-HKG by quite a bit!

  • Cloud Runner says:

Unfortunately, April 2016 fares are not yet available…… when I try to book for DUS-LON in Jun, then LON-SIN-HKG next April, I get “We can only accept dates that occur between 2015/04/26 05:41 PM and 2016/03/20 05:41 PM. Please enter a new date.”. Guess I will have to wait a couple more weeks to price this one up !
