Discounts on redemptions to Spain via avios.com

avios.com has launched a small low-key sale on selected routes to Spain operated by Iberia.
Full details can be found on avios.com here. In summary:
Edinburgh to Madrid reduced from 15,000 Avios to 11,250 + £41
London Gatwick to Madrid reduced from 15,000 Avios to 11,250 + £40
London Heathrow to Mallorca reduced from 15,000 Avios to 11,250 + £51
London Heathrow to Gran Canaria reduced from 20,000 Avios to 15,000 + £51
London Heathrow to Tenerife reduced from 20,000 Avios to 15,000 + £50
All of these routes are operated by Iberia Express. This means that they do NOT qualify for Reward Flight Saver, hence the varying tax amounts above.
Only economy flights are discounted.
You must book by March 30th for travel between March 29th and July 15th.
It appears that you must ring Avios to book tickets at these prices. I tried various online combinations yesterday but was continually charged the full price. I assume that they will not charge any offline booking fee.
Meanwhile, over at Iberia Plus ….
Iberia Plus is running its own offer. You can save 25% on the cost of booking an Iberia redemption between Madrid and London.
The dates are different from the avios.com deal. You need to book and fly by the end of April. This deal allows you to fly in and out of Heathrow, unlike the avios.com deal.
Business Class is included with this offer. Remember that Iberia runs a long-haul A330 or A340 on one flight a day to and from Heathrow with fully flat beds in Business.
Remember that you cannot transfer Avios in or out of Iberia Plus unless the Iberia account is 90 days old and has earned at least 1 Avios.
You can also earn double Avios on Iberia flights bought and flown before the end of April from London or Edinburgh to Madrid. You need to register via the banner which will show on iberia.com when you log in.
