Amex special: No 1 Traveller lounge access + glass of champagne = £20

American Express has teamed up with No 1 Traveller to offer a special discount code on airport lounge access.  The deal is valid at Heathrow Terminal 3, Gatwick North, Gatwick South, Edinburgh and Birmingham.

No 1 Traveller lounges are very well regardedI reviewed the Gatwick North lounge last year which is so much better than the British Airways lounge one floor up that it is almost laughable.

I also ran a review of their Edinburgh lounge last year which was written by a HfP reader – you can see from the photographs in that article that it is impressive.

American Express is offering a £20 package which gets you lounge access plus a glass of champagne.  You book via the No 1 Traveller website and use promotional code AMEX20 at check-out.

You need to pay with an American Express card in theory.  In practice, the other payment boxes are still showing so I doubt it makes much difference.

This offer runs until March 31st – you must book AND complete your visit by this date.

PS.  Remember that No 1 Traveller lounges are included in Priority Pass, so if you have one of those via Amex Platinum or similar then you can enter for free with that, subject to capacity

The one at heathrow T3 is very impressive also, and has great views of the south runway

I was in the LGW North one on thursday, the food selection was pretty bad. It was weird salads (pasta with raisins..) and cakes. There was zero cold meat or cheese out at all. In fact the only meat on the free menu was Coq au Vin, which I wasnt in the mood for at 11:30am… (bacon roll was for order before 11am). I was really annoyed since I hadn’t eaten anything, so left went to pret and got an all day breakfast sandwich instead. There’s a new lounge thats opened just before you get to No 1, called “My Lounge” that looks pretty funky, but its billed as the “younger relaxed brother of the No.1 lounge” which looked more like a cafe, I’m assuming same food, but I’d see if the pass or priority pass works for that and see.

I have been to the new lounge you are referring to and was very impressed. I had a warm chicken salad which was included. Excellent lounge in my opinion.

Interestingly I took advantage of this offer today and am currently in the Birmingham lounge sipping my champagne [which is ‘worth’ £8 btw]. Agree nice lounge and not busy for 6:40pm, reasonable selection of free dishes although the on-display celeriac and apple soup is a little wierd. Bargain!

Gourmet Society appears to offer 2 for 1 on walk-up rates which may be of interest, especially if in a pair and not fussed about the champagne!
