2,500 – 3,000 bonus Avios on London City flights to Edinburgh and Dublin

In a very focussed promotion, British Airways is offering 2,500 or 3,000 bonus Avios for every flight you make from London City Airport to Edinburgh or Dublin.

Book a return flight and the bonus is doubled.  Unfortunately British Airways has messed up the wording of this promotion so we need to do our best to guess what you earn.

Is the bonus per one way flight, or per return flight?

Take a look at the promotional website here.

The headline says ‘Up to 3,000 Avios per flight’ which implies ‘per one way’

The body text says ‘If you book a return journey in eligible classes, you could collect a massive 6,000 Avios’ which clearly implies up to 3,000 per one way

However, the table on the site says that the bonus is ‘per return journey’

….. and the rules says ‘a Qualifying Flight is a published or corporate negotiated net fare return flight’

I hope that is clear.  You will receive 2,500 or 3,000 Avios per one-way flight.  Or per return flight.  Perhaps you earn 10,000 Avios if you fly Edinburgh to Dublin via London City?  Or perhaps just 5,000?

Not all fare classes qualify either.  It is likely that the cheapest tickets will fall outside of the qualifying fare buckets, which are listed on the site.

Here are the key details:

You must register for this promotion at this ba.com page

You must book by 31st December

You must fly by 31st January

Only the London City (BA Cityflyer) to Edinburgh and Dublin routes are included

You receive 3,000 bonus Avios per Club Europe one-way or return (depending on what the rules really mean) to Dublin

You receive 2,500 bonus Avios per Euro Traveller / UK Domestic one-way or return (depending on what the rules really mean) to Dublin or Edinburgh

Targeted promo. BA site says I’m not eligible 🙁

  • Paul says:

“You receive 2,5000 bonus Avios per Eurotraveller / UK Domestic one-way or return (depending on what the rules really mean) to Dublin or Edinburgh” — a 25k bonus would be nice!!

I registered for the offer OK.

Gosh. Someone’s going to war with FlymayBe!

I’ve registered okay. Frustrating thing is I’ve already got a return flight booked LCY-EDI over the Christmas period in the right fare class, but I obviously won’t get the points as I booked it in November! Bah!

  • Lady London says:

Registered. Didn’t receive an email, and doubt I’ll actually use it though !
