EXPIRED: £5 off £10 Amazon purchase with Mastercard

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

Apologies for this slightly off-topic additional post, but this is an excellent deal which will only be around for a very short time I think.

Amazon and MasterCard are running a great deal today.  You receive £5 off a purchase of £10 or more when you use the code MCARD5OFF.

I have just tested this a few minutes ago and it works fine.

The rules appear to be:

You can only buy items sold by Amazon, not by third parties

You CANNOT buy gift vouchers

£10 is, coincidentally, now the cut-off point for free Super Saver Delivery so you won’t pay any postage either.

You can visit Amazon via this linkHead for Points will make a few pennies (literally!) on your purchase to help keep us ticking over.  Thank you.

I’m trying to pay with gift codes.

I get the £5 off initially, but then when I change back to gift card, it seems to want to take the entire balance including the £5 off from the gift code.

    • Anon says:

Can be a fiddle. Set the MasterCard as your default payment. It’s under account settings manage address book. Might need to set it on billing and delivery address.

      • Boi says:

set biling card as master card and allow payment to go through(with £5 discount) then go to your orders: click on apply gift certificate to this order. then balance will be taken from your gift cert balance and nothing from payment card (MC).

  • squills says:

The rules DO NOT say you can’t use the same MasterCard more than once. If you have genuine multiple Amazon a/cs available (say, the wife’s and a sibling’s) then Amazon do not seem to be cancelling orders.

  • KB says:

Note: Only enter the code when you reach the final “Confirm” page (i.e. the page AFTER you have selcected Mastercard as your payment method). It doesn’t work if you try to use the code on the earlier pages.

  • squills says:

They’ve simply had no problem fulfilling multiple orders with the same MC card PROVIDED the a/cs are genuine & longstanding.

I think most people getting cancelled orders are just chancers or silly students trying about 10 new a/cs with the same card.

Sorted out my Henry Hoover dustbag requirements for the next couple of years 😉

  • ADS says:

I tried using it to purchase from a seller “fulfilled by amazon”, but it didn’t work.

Paid an extra pound to buy it from amazon – so four quid saving !

    Thanks

  • Irons1980 says:

Just bought 12 packs of Johnson’s baby wipes for £10 and down to £5 with free delivery so thanks for that – 12 packs of wipes for a fiver ain’t to bad and we go through them like there’s no tomorrow!

  • AviosNewbie says:

a pack of 2 LED lamps at £5 after the discount! good stuff

  • Will says:

still working thankfully. also used the gift certificate trick so essentially paid with amex 😉
