Hilton launches its Winter Sale with 33% off Best Available Rate

Hilton has launched its Winter Sale, offering discounts of up to 33% off the Best Available Rate for hotels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

There is a special home page for this promotion which you can find here.

You can book for the whole of 2015 so you may have an opportunity to lock in a rate for an event you know you will need to attend next year.

These rates are valid:

Until 28 December 2015, weekends only

Between 19 December 2014 and 5 January 2015, midweek at selected hotels

Rates are non-refundable

Discount is up to 33% off Best Available Rate except at Hampton properties where it is 15%

I ran a quick example which looked pretty attractive. For a weekend in Prague in late February – 20th to 22nd – the sale rate at the Old Town property is 2,010k compared to 2,415k per night for the usual Advanced Purchase rate.

Based on this non-scientific sample, you may well be able to find some decent deals here.

The Virgin Atlantic cards are the only Visa or Mastercard products in the UK which can indirectly earn Hilton Honors points. You can apply here.

Ah excellent. Last time round I booked a number of Heathrow Double Tree rooms for £40 and got the $25 room credit ontop after always finding it cheaper on Hotels.com

I have a free night from the Honors Barclaycard. Where is the nicest Hilton or Waldorf Astoria to use this at in Europe?

  Rome is meant to be good. Waldorf Berlin? Hilton Venice (nicer than it sounds)?
  
  As always, take a look at the size of the standard rooms. Lots of classic hotels have very small base level rooms. That said, Waldorf Berlin is brand new so should be OK.
  
  May also be worth looking at relative pricing. Berlin is generally very cheap so, whilst the W-A is excellent, you could stay somewhere 80% as good for under £100. Conrad London on a busy night where you had to be in London would be better £ value.
  
  Rome is up a hill, out on its own, which means you are effectively obliged to eat in the hotel at potentially outrageous pricing.

  To chime in here, the Cavalieri Rome is fantastic IF you book an imperial room. The lounge is a masterpiece and the view is remarkable. It’s very poor value in a non imperial room. Gold/Diamond’s seem to get nice upgrades (well I have twice, once as a gold and once as a diamond). You will not be bumped to an impeial room from a standard though regardless of status.

Water coming through the criling into my bag, moved to a different room that was smaller than some hotel bathrooms I’ve seen, not to mention it had a broken window and it was bloeing a gale, staff who were clueless about telephone and internet charges, a manager who was aloof, unfriendly and was totally lacking in a public srvice ethic…all that before I even mention thr club wing but hopefully that has been upgraded in last few years since i had the misfortune to stay there.
