New Amex deals for airport and High Street shopping launched

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

The Christmas shopping season is starting to get into gear and the special offers are starting to appear.  You have probably received a letter or email about the main American Express deals, although I have recapped them at the bottom of this list.

What you may not have seen, though, are these new deals which are only valid for airport shopping.

American Express at airports

Via the shopping tab at the Amex cardmember offers site, you can register for:

Café Nero – £5 cashback when you spend £10 at Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted

Ted Baker – £10 cashback when you spend £65 at Heathrow and Gatwick

Sunglass Hut – £10 cashback when you spend £30 at Heathrow and Gatwick

Dixons – £10 cashback when you spend £30 at  Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Stansted and Edinburgh

Harrods – £10 cashback when you spend £65 at Heathrow and Gatwick

Fortnum & Mason – £10 cashback when you spend £65 at Heathrow T5

WH Smith – £5 cashback when you spend £10 at Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Stansted and Edinburgh

There is also a World Duty Free offer in the main Christmas promotion as you will see below.

Most of these deals run until the end of January.  The WH Smith and Dixons one are particularly interesting.  Café Nero is a tricky place to spend £10 in one transaction unless you stock up on snacks!

General Amex Christmas offers

Amex launched a huge range of High Street discount deals this week.  You will find a selection of these on your online statement pages on the Amex website and you can also register via the cardmember offers website.

This is a selection of what is available.  Most expire on December 14th.  Remember that you MUST register individually for each offer.

House of Fraser – £20 cashback on £100

Fenwick / Bentalls – £10 cashback on £70

Debenhams – £10 cashback on £50

Laura Ashley – £20 cashback on £100

The White Company – £20 cashback on £100

Dell – £100 cashback on £699

Milli Millu – 10% cashback

Rigby & Peller – 10% cashback

Argos – £10 cashback on £100

Heal’s – £15 cashback on £150

World Duty Free – £10 cashback on £65 (runs to January)

All of these deals should be available across MBNA, Barclays and Lloyds Amex cards as well as directly issued ones.

Finally, Virgin Flying Club is offering double miles on specific merchants at its Shops Away shopping portal.  Participating shops are House of Fraser (so you could double up with the Amex deal above), Selfridges, John Lewis, Apple, Net A Porter, M&S, Currys and asos.  You can visit the Shops Away site here.

  • Mel says:

Is there any limit on the number of offers you can register to your card?

    • TimS says:

No limit. I tested that recently by having 35 different offers on one of my cards at once!

  • Rohan says:

    Thanks Rob.

  • Mr Bridge says:

do whsmith at gatwick sell gift cards??

  • Globetrotter7 says:

Has anyone managed to register for any of the Foursquare offers? I can’t seem to find them when I do a search

    • Ms says:

Yes, I have registered my card. I have searched for WHS at Heathrow & added an offer to my card. It seems that the default setting in Foursquare return the shops nearby your location. Try to narrow your search for airports mentioned in the article. Hope, it helps.

      • Phillip says:

I used #AMEXoffer in the search bar as instructed by Amex on FS and it brings up many of them but not all. WHSmith being the most troublesome!

        • Globetrotter7 says:

Thanks. Narrowing he search to heathrow worked for some but for others I had to search individually.

  • Andrew says:

Postage stamps for Christmas cards from WHSmith at LHR it is then!

  • Phillip says:

Interestingly, it will only let you register two different cards for the World Duty Free offer – I imagine it recognises the e-mail address therefore using a different one should solve the problem.

  • Brian says:

There is always the option of buying mobile top-up at WHSmith. And a Caffe Nero gift card, if available to buy at the airports, will solve the problem of how to get over £10.

  • squills says:

You can register supplementary cards with the direct link, in case you have only bothered to open 1 online a/c but have 2 cards.

    • littlefish says:

I saw this too. Does this mean if my wife registers her supplementary card we each get a £10 credit if we each spend £65+ at WDF on our respective cards?

By the way, thanks Raffles, the Amex e-mail was pushing Foursquare which doesn’t work for us. However, your link takes me to the simple to understand Register Card. So at least we can use the offer this time. 🙂

      • squills says:

It does indeed. Once Raffles clears my links above (you can’t see my post yet, awaiting moderation) you’ll have direct links for most of the offers and can probably work out the missing ones.

Prize to who gets WHS link as that stumped me 😉
