Heathrow Rewards has launched its annual bonus promotion on electronics and jewellery, keen to tap into the Christmas rush.
Here are the details of the offer, which runs from now until 31st December. Remember that you can convert Heathrow Rewards points into Avios, Virgin Flying Club, Etihad Guest and Lufthansa Miles & More miles, as well as into Heathrow shopping vouchers.
You should also remember that Heathrow Rewards is offering a 100% bonus on conversions into Virgin Flying Club, Etihad Guest and Miles & More at the moment. This means that your 15,000 bonus points could be worth 30,000 miles.
15,000 extra points when you spend £4000 or more at Dixons Travel, Harrods Fine Watch Room (T2), Mappin & Webb (T5), Watches of Switzerland (T3, T4), Tiffany (T3, T5)
5,000 extra points when you spend £1500 – £3999.99 at Dixons Travel, Harrods Fine Watch Room (T2), Mappin & Webb (T5), Watches of Switzerland (T3, T4), Tiffany (T3, T5)
1,000 extra points when you spend £350 – £1499.99 at Dixons Travel
At the lower spending levels, this offer is SUBSTANTIALLY less generous than it was last year. A spend of £1,400 would have earned you 7,500 bonus points in 2013. This year, you would only receive 1,000 points. For anyone spending over £4,000 it is as generous as 2013. Back in 2012, though, you could earn 15,000 points for spending just £2,500.
I took advantage of this deal a couple of years ago when I bought my wife a watch at Watches of Switzerland. I then sat on the points – over 20,000 in total, including double base points as I was a premium member of Heathrow Rewards – and converted them to Avios when BA joined the programme. They were offering a 100% transfer bonus at the time, and I netted almost 50,000 miles if I remember! It was a serious rebate on the price paid for the watch.
If you are not already a Heathrow Rewards member, you can join here. I don’t think there are any sign-up bonuses available at the moment – please let me know if you know of one.
