  I presume when you say travelling alone, you mean just with your guest. The prize is 2 x flights, so I assume that as a minimum, without sharing on facebook, you still take your guest?

  Have to agree with you here Raffles, it’s hardly a ‘luxury’ trip when they are only offering premium economy flights! Especially given that it’s such a long flight.

  I find it really annoying when companies decide to scrimp on their prizes like this. To be honest, I would rather be put up in a cheaper hotel and get more comfortable flights in business or first. Maybe they don’t quite have the budget, which is fair enough, but they really can’t call this a ‘luxury’ trip without at least having business class flights (technically they should be First class to be called luxury).

    Well there are plenty of people who would consider ‘premium economy’ to be something a bit special. I’m reminded of a competition I saw while at a football match, you basically had to make an ass of yourself in front of ~40k people to get a prize of two economy tickets to Vancouver courtesy of Delta. Loads of people applied to enter that. I regularly remind myself that the business/first flyers that frequent here are not the target audience for these competitions 🙂

      Then really, this is about giving ordinary people a chance to visit hk and along the way, not make an ass of yourself

    It is an excellent hotel, tough. I also did not mention that the free dinner is at their Michelin starred restaurant.

    I’ve never had the pleasure of travelling anything other than plain vanilla economy (yet – this website will change that, thanks Raffles), so to me premium economy sounds good.

    To a lot of people a holiday in Hong Kong would be a once in a lifetime experience, thus just having it all paid for, even if they had to go economy, would be amazing for them. There’s plenty of not so rich people who also read these pages I feel having read various comments.

      I agree. I’ve now had a few first/business flights due to air miles (and the odd cash booking) but I’d still see a premium economy flight to Hong Kong and a three night stay at a hotel I could never afford, for free for me and three friends, as a luxury. I also don’t look down my nose at flying economy: due to air miles the incremental cost of flying business/first is so low that it doesn’t make sense to fly economy if there is availability in other cabins, but I’ll still happily travel in economy if necessary.

  Trouble is that in my experience ‘free dinners’ seem to always end up costing me a fair amount, as the wine (and whatever other extras are rarely free), so in a Michelin star restaurant, I can only imagine the eventual bill.
  Nevertheless, good fortune (cookie…) to whoever applies and thanks to Raffles for alerting us, especially as he is / was in Vegas – any luck at the tables Raffles?

    I think last time I was here I gambled about $5 and won $6. So far spent nothing on this trip despite walking through it 4 times a day!

    I spent more at the amusement arcade in Filey in August!

  Good competition although swap the Premium Economy for Business and trade down the Mandarin Oriental for the Salisbury YMCA (I kid you not, it’s the best value place in HK) and you would have a better prize.

    This is always the argument though …. better to have a comfy experience for 12 hours on the plane or a better hotel room for a week when you arrive? Different people see it differently.

  Cracking prize. Hope one of the members here wins. I take it you tag your friends after entering as it wouldn’t allow me to share prior to submitting? You very rarely get 1st class with prizes, at the end of the day it is a free to enter prize and not a pay 10 pounds and spot the ball type deal. You know the site!

  It annoys me competitions that are only open to Face book or any other social media only.

    I have a dummy FB account which has only my name on it and no other personal information – I use it for stuff like this. I also have a dummy Twitter account because otherwise any Twitter comps I enter would get copied to the entire HFP list.

      I also have a dummy FB account for the same. That account has a handful of “friends” on it but those friends are things like bars/clubs/shops etc. Therefore if FB competitions require me to share links etc with friends, it is only spamming other spammers & not real individuals.

      Plus those kinds of “friends” are always willing to accept friend requests without question, making it quick & easy to generate a dummy presence on FB.
