IHG Rewards Club, the InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn loyalty scheme, has launched a range of exclusive digital rewards.
Products can be downloaded directly via its Android and iOS apps, although Apple restrictions mean that some items are not available via the iOS app. In such cases, you need to download them from the IHG website and manually copy them across.
You can choose from a selection of music tracks, ebooks, magazines, games and software.
Example prices are:
Coldplay, A Sky Full of Stars, 1100 points
Jo Nesbo, Harry Hole Mysteries (3 book set), 6850 points
Elle magazine, latest issue, 1250 points
Football Manager 2014 game, 7100 points
PowerDirector 12 Ultra, 28450 points
In general, these are poor value for money rewards. I tend to value IHG Rewards Club points at £5 per 1000, based on 50,000 points getting you a five-star room worth £250.
PowerDirector 12, on the other hand, can be downloaded from Amazon for £49. This values your points at under £2 per 1000, which is very similar to the rate you receive when redeeming IHG Rewards Club points for a shopping gift voucher – ie a poor one.
