Earn 10,000 Lufthansa Miles & More with a subscription to The Economist

Back in May, I ran a promotion which offered 8,000 Avios points for a 1-year subscription to The Economist. I know a few Head for Points readers took it up – I also know a few have had trouble getting their points credited.
A similar offer has now appeared for Lufthansa’s Miles & More programme.
This time, the deal is for 10,000 Miles & More miles. Given that M&M miles are harder to earn than Avios points (Lufthansa is not an Amex Membership Rewards partner, for example) this makes the deal even more interesting.
As you can see at this link, you can earn 10,000 Miles & More miles if you take out a 1-year digital and print subscription to The Economist. The cost is £155.
Alternatively, you can earn 7,500 miles with a £126 print-only or digital-only subscription.
The price seems to be in line with the price charged via other channels.
At one point it was possible to cancel Economist subscriptions for a pro-rata refund. There is no mention of that here so I would assume that this is no longer available, although it may be worth a go in a few months.
If you have access to a US mailing address, it is worth noting that the price there is just $160, so under £100. I was once told that – after a few weeks – you can change the mailing address to your UK one and they will switch your subscription over without asking for any more cash. Don’t take my word for that though ….
The offer runs until September 30th.
