Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

blinkbox books promo still running – but now £2 for 240 Avios

The offer from ebook company (and Tesco subsidiary) blinkbox books refuses to go away.  It was meant to finish at the end of the June.  It was then extended to the end of July.  It has now been pushed back 17th September.

It is only half as generous now, however.  You need to spend at least £2 per ebook to earn 100 bonus Clubcard points.  The previous versions required only £1 of spend.

Blinkbox promo

This is how the promotion works:

You receive 100 Tesco Clubcard points (worth 240 Avios, 250 Virgin Flying Club miles) for every ebook you buy

The minimum price to qualify for the 100 points is now £2

You can receive the bonus on up to 20 books, for a total of 2000 Clubcard points – points earned in June and July count towards this total

The last day to order is 17th September.

Here are the terms and conditions in full.  You are now paying 0.8p per Avios point which makes it a more marginal deal.

Unfortunately, you can only buy one book per transaction. You will need to make 20 separate transactions to order the maximum 20 books which are allowed under this promotion. Use a variety of different credit and debit cards to avoid your card getting blocked due to ‘suspicious transactions’.

The bonus points are posting OK so far. They post in arrears and appear to be posting for everyone at the same time. You may have to wait a few weeks until the next posting run but experience so far shows that you will get them without a fight.

Unfortunately this probably means that the extra points promotions going forward are likely to be less attractive. Lets hope one half of tesco does not talk to the other. Ironically my take up of these offers has actually made me spend more at tesco – from impulse buys when instore, to paying clser attention to coupons and offers, to ordering additional books and films on blinkbox – whom I would never have dreamt of joining.

Now they have my details its far too easy to buy a movie…. 🙂

I agree with you. I am however now growing tired of waiting for the ever elusive conversion bonus. Like many I don’t have any Amex sign up bonuses on the horizon (had loads) so feeling a bit flat! Might just convert the points and be done with it.

Just think of the public service building a large balance helping some scally in wolverhampton or newcastle with their shopping when your vouchers are nicked 😉

  • Simon says:

If you’ve already taken advantage of this with the £1 offer can you do it again? Also is it still limited to 20 books?

  • Simon says:

If you’ve got multiple clubcard numbers on the same account can I use one of the other ones or does it have to be a totally separate clubcard account?

  • Andrew S says:

I always find that mastercards are particularly sensative to being stopped for duplicate transactions – same amount nover a short time.

I used 3v card on 20 tranactions one after another without issue.

  • CV says:

Yes. Happened with both transaction I’ve done with blinkbox, both paid out too. Might order a film tonight now you’ve reminded me!

  • Mark says:

Will this work if ive done the 20 x £1 books for 2000 points already??

    Cheers
