Lufthansa is running a competition to promote the new website and app for their JetFriends childrens club.  There is an iPad up for grabs as the main prize.  The competition is UK-only so you have a decent chance of winning.

About JetFriends

If you are in your 40’s and had parents wealthy enough to pay the cost of flights in the 1970’s and 1980’s, you may remember Junior Jet Club.  This was the last time that British Airways tried seriously to build a long term relationship with young flyers.

Fast forward 30 years, and Lufthansa is the best European airline when it comes to having a dedicated club for children.  Their JetFriends scheme has been running for many years as part of the Miles & More programme.

Lufthansa has just launched a brand new JetFriends website at www.jetfriends.com.

It is split into two areas – a part for children aged 2-10 with educational games and an interactive sticker album, and an older section for 11-17 year olds which allows them to explore the concept of freedom and travel.  Older kids can complete My JetWorld with online pins to show where they have visited, as well as uploading photographs and discussing their experiences.

Enrolling your kids (aged 2-17) for JetFriends has another advantage.  Their membership card doubles as a Miles & More membership card.  This allows your children to collect miles when flying on Lufthansa and other Star Alliance airlines.  These miles do not expire as long as they remain members of JetFriends which is an advantage over a standard Miles & More account.

As well as relaunching jetfriends.com, Lufthansa has also launched the JetFriends app for smartphones and tablets.  Aimed specifically at 3 to 6 year olds, it answers a lot of the questions that children have about flying.  Who wears a uniform at the airport?  What happens when you pass through security?

I am currently testing it out with my 3-year old and will let you know how he goes on!  You can download the JetFriends app for iOS at the App Store via this link and from Google Play for Android via this link.

Entering the competition requires a little bit of thinking.  You need to think of something funny that your child said to you – just a one-liner.
