Reminder: IHG PointBreaks will be bookable from Monday afternoon

On Saturday, I published the list of hotels which will be bookable for just 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points in the latest round of IHG Rewards Club PointBreaks.

This is just a reminder that these hotels will open up for booking this afternoon, probably 2pm-ish as we hit the start of business hours on the US East Coast. You should jump in quickly for hotels which may prove popular – remember that you can always cancel your booking later.

IHG Rewards Club

You can book via the IHG PointBreaks page here or via the standard booking page here. If the PointBreaks page has not yet been updated, it does not necessarily mean that the special deals below will not already be bookable – do a search to check.

The list of 150 participating hotels is in the article linked in the first paragraph.

    Hi Raffles,

Can i book two rooms for the same night in 2 separate bookings?

    • Rob says:

Yes, no problem, but must be separate bookings as you cannot book two rooms together for rewards.

  • Gnarlyoldgoatdude says:

The Points Break page is still showing the old details at 14:20.

  • Ian says:

Just booked a hotel for 5000pts at 1430

  • Gnarlyoldgoatdude says:

Yeap. The Point Breaks page itself is still out of date (15:35), but I’ve managed to book 9 wonderful nights in Slough.

  • Chico Dusty says:

Calgary is never on this list! Itching to go.

  • HayMow says:

Do you know how quickly purchased points reach an IHG Rewards account? Thinking it might be worth buying 5k at $13.50 per 1,000 = c.£40 for the 5000 points needed for these offers, if my calc is correct, if it’s somewhere you were planning to go anyway. (Or even buying now for the next PointsBreak offer, since I have a zero balance.)

    • Rob says:

You can buy IHG points at $7 per 1000, no need to pay $13.50! You will need 5000 to get started with this though, which you would need to buy at full price.

(Not sure how long they take to post via points com – normally within 48 hours.)

When you have 5000 points in your account, find a 15,000 point property and book a reward night. You will be forced to use ‘cash and points’ which is 5,000 points plus $70. Once you have booked, cancel. Your $70 is not returned to you – instead, you get 15,000 points back in your account. You have therefore effectively bought 10,000 points for $70. Repeat as required

      • Gnarlyoldgoatdude says:

Just received a Platinum offer of 60% extra points when bought.
Still not worth it based on Raffles’s above calculations.

  • GlennM says:

Did anyone else get the Elite Club bonus email? 60% extra on all points purchases – marginally of value, but given this deal, a bit more of winner.

    • Rob says:

It is still over $7 per 1000 which is the price using ‘cash and points and cancel’ though – although at least buying your first 5000 points got cheaper!
