Most British Airways American Express cardholders were emailed about this offer on Tuesday, but you can also take part if you have any other American Express card.

The first 24,000 people to register their American Express card via this site will receive a £25 statement credit when they spend £25 at TWO of the following retailers ONLINE:

Gap

Achica

Space.NK

Banana Republic

The White Company

Debenhams

Currys PC World (either website)

Virgin Wines

You need to make your transactions before August 24th.  The small print says that the charge should hit your American Express statement by this date, so in reality you need to order a few days before.

What is not clear is whether you can make two purchases at the same retailer.  The website implies that it should be two different retailers but it is not explicit.

You can register supplementary cards for this offer as well as main cards.

Code WELCOME2014 gets you £10 off a £50 spend at Achica at any point during 2014 if you were thinking of buying something there.

Be careful if you try to buy gift cards to qualify for this deal.  Debenhams sells gift cards online but you are taken to a third-party website to make your purchase.  This could mean that you do would not receive the credit as the payment will not be processed by Debenhams.  Similarly, currys.co.uk redirects to currysgiftcards.co.uk which is not a qualifying website.

However, in our comments section yesterday, TimS posted:  “Debenhams should be fine. When I bought Debenhams gift vouchers online for the recent statement credit it showed up as ‘Debenhams.com Southampton’.  So you never know ….

    It’s a long process – but for Currys you could buy a few items online, have them delivered and simply go back to the store to return them. Instead of a refund, get a gift card. Build them up and buy whatever you want.

    It should work for Debenhams if you buy a physical gift card as this is purchased via debenhams.com:

    It is the e-giftcards which are sold via a separate website which probably won’t work.

    Note if you buy a physical gift card you have to pay £4 delivery on a £25 purchase, but is free if you spend £30.

      This method of buying online a physical giftcard was how I did my giftcard purchase previously where it showed up on the statement as ‘Debenhams.com Southampton’.

        I registered with them ages ago, but never bought anything – although I did place an order that they cancelled. I think it was when they were offering £50 for Plat Amex holders – which wasn’t!

    I notice the terms and conditions define an “Eligible Card” as a card issued by American Express Services Europe Limited, Lloyds Bank plc, TSB Bank plc or MBNA Europe Bank Limited. There is no mention of BarclayCard.

    The last set of FourSquare deals worked on my AMEX BarclayCard, I wonder if they just copied and pasted a previous set of Terms and Conditions for this offer and forgot to include BarclayCard.
