Avios Recycling and Avios from BUPA deals gone?

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

Two of the avios.com partnerships appear to have come to an end.

The more popular one is Avios Recycling which let you trade in a mobile phone or other appliance for points.

I was never a big fan of this opportunity as I wrote a couple of times, most recently here.  I know that some people did find it useful though.  It really came down to the individual product you were trying to trade in.

The Bupa deal is definitely dead.  It seems it ended on August 31st but no-one seemed to have noticed.  This awarded you Avios for signing up for various health plans.  It was always tricky to know if this represented a decent deal or not – it seemed to come down to whether you qualified for a special Bupa deal via a professional trade body or similar group.

Unfortunately, the amazingly uncompetitive deal to earn Avios when booking train tickets with traingenius.com has not gone away.  Stick with redspottedhanky.com and its own loyalty scheme instead.

Totally depends on the retailer. Each one should have an estimate on the page somewhere. BT paid me in a week and a half earlier this year, I’ve waited almost a year for Tesco before now.

Worrying about Avios recycling. That happened quickly and quietly. Waiting for 10k from them !
