    Thinking Tier Point run, I’m currently waiting for my 35th flight of a TP run, a positioning flight to SJU with avios would open up some very cheap TP routes to HNL.

  I can see the flights SDQ-MAD but cant seem to get any prices for SDQ-LHR or SDQ-MAN. I assume these would be the same number of avios points but maybe not loaded yet?? did you come across any?

    No, it won’t require the same number of Avios – it will require more. Avios charges by flight, remember. It is not a zonal system.

    You might as well just book SDQ-MAD as one booking and then do MAD-LON/MAN as a separate booking. You are probably better off booking MAD-UK via ba.com as Iberia’s website does not allow Reward Flight Saver and, if you book BA planes, the flight is NOT cancellable and NOT changeable.

  I am trying to use my avios to get 2 reward seats from London to Santiago, Chile. My avios are currently in my BAEC account. I have opened an Iberia Plus account and seats are available at lower tax, but is it the case that my Iberia Plus account needs to be open for 90 days before I can transfer avios from BAES to IB Plus?

    Yes, afraid so. You can transfer Amex points in immediately though if you have enough.

  I just want to add that in the past, award availability on MAD-SDQ was relatively good the 2-3 times I checked when trying to put together a trip.

    ONLY if a) you book a European short-haul flight and b) you book it on avios.com and c) it is a ticket which does not show as being available on ba.com.

    This will often credit to Iberia Plus or BAEC.

    No chance – at all – for any other flight UNLESS you try to credit it to another oneworld airline (American, airberlin etc). Sometimes these airlines get confused over ticket classes and will credit redemption tickets.

      Thanks Raffles, didn’t know this. Do you get tier points too if you credit to BAEC? Have you had more success getting the miles with Iberia Plus or BAEC?

        Yes, would be 10 tp’s. I have never done this to either scheme as historically I redeemed via ba.com to get the ‘no change fees for Gold’ benefit.
