Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Earn 1,500 Clubcard points (3,600 Avios) on £60 Tesco grocery spend

It is a couple of months since there has been a decent promotional code for Tesco grocery shopping.  There used to be a steady flow of them which made it an easy way of picking up Avios points.

This impressive offer has now appeared:

1,500 bonus Clubcard points on a £60 grocery spend

Code is XXPJPY

Code expires 30th June

I need to say straight up that this code is not working on all accounts.

From reports elsewhere there does not seem to be a pattern.  It seems that it works either if you have never had a grocery order before on your account or if you have not ordered groceries for a while.  It worked fine for me but I have not done a Tesco grocery order for at least a year.

The quickest way to see if it works is to go to the Tesco grocery site and do a dummy order for £60 (search for ‘veuve’ and put two bottles in your basket!).  Click checkout, select a random delivery slot, go to the payment page (do not put in a credit card number) and enter the code.  The box is halfway down the payment page.

If it has worked, you will see this on your screen:

rsz_1rsz_1tesco

The voucher is then stored on your account.  You do NOT need to complete the dummy order – the code will still be there if you do another grocery order later on.

If the code does not work on your account, you may want to consider opening a new Tesco Clubcard account just for this transaction.  If you are in a BA household account then it might be less risky to use the name of someone else in your household account and send the Avios to them.

If you don’t want to order your groceries from Tesco, consider spending £60 on some wine, nappies, dishwasher tablets or other expensive branded items which you buy anyway.  It is a very easy 3,600 Avios or 3,750 Virgin Flying Club miles if you only buy items you need anyway.

  • SingingDwarf says:

Sorry, this eCoupon cannot be accepted as it has already been used the maximum number of times.

    • Jason says:

I get them same on all my account shopping and wine.

    • Ralph Hawtrey says:

Thank you. It worked, and I don’t have to drink all the gin at once.

I will keep an eye on your site.

  • Chilibenny says:

Yes it says it has been used the maximum number of times for me as well. Pity

  • MrHeckles says:

Worked for me although did say that was for “First Grocery Delivery”……

  • Gordon says:

    Worked for me

  • Adrian says:

Yes its just worked for me as well A great bonus

  • Toby says:

    That’s a good spot.

Not working for me so I assume it’s targeted.

  • jason says:

Worked for me not order for a while

  • James Ward says:

Worked for me. I haven’t done a grocery shop from Tesco for years.

    • James Ward says:

Just noticed that it’s described as “1500 Clubcard points when you spend £60 on your first grocery shop”, which would explain why it’s not working for regular shoppers.

It appears to be stackable with XXTYY4 – £12 off your first shop of more than £60.

      • Diane says:

Not stackable for me. Used one code and the offers drops off

        • Rob says:

You can only use one XX code per order. Not stackable.

          • tony says:

Yep, not stackable for me either, but I can apply one or the other.

      • TimS says:

Not sure how you have managed to get the codes to stack as Tesco systems only allow one X prefixed code to be used per transaction?

Both codes could be added to my e-coupon wallet but only one could be used per order.

      • James Ward says:

Correction – not stackable. You need to choose between 1,500 CC or £12 off.

      • squills says:

If you lost your card or forgot your password or just fancied a change (for example) you can open a new a/c at the same address, no problem at all.

You’re paying for the goods and acting honestly.

      • Rob says:

Won’t turn you down, it may get merged into your main account but you won’t lose the points.

      • Col A-B says:

Hmmm….which makes me wonder which is better “value”?

        • TimS says:

1500 points is much better value.

At worst that would be worth £15 off tesco shopping and £15 off is better than £12 off!

    • Lady London says:

Same here. Did my true first shop online with them due to this offer. I really struggle to buy from Tesco. Took a lot of thought to find things I could buy from but eventually found a list of stuff I could order.
