Miles & More news – ‘buy miles’ cap raised, new meilenschnaeppchen, PartnerPlusBenefit

Here are three bits of Miles & More news which didn’t justify an article in their own right but which are worth putting together in one big Lufthansa fest ….

Firstly ….

…. the May list of discounted ‘meilenschnaeppchen’ redemptions has been published.

Take a look here. The list of long-haul business class destinations includes Abu Dhabi, Accra, Addis Abeba, Amman, Bahrain, Beirut, Cairo, Damman, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuala Lumpur, Kuwait, Muscat, Riyadh, Tokyo and Washington.

In general these are for travel up to the end of June. Lufthansa appears to be experimenting, however, because some of the above destinations are ONLY for travel in September. This is good news for people who struggle to get away at short notice.

Secondly ….

…. until June 20th you can buy Miles & More miles with a 20% bonus. The annual cap has also been raised to 20,000 miles as part of this promotion.

The link to buy miles is here. I would only do this if you only need a very small amount to top up your account as it is unlikely to make much sense otherwise. Even with the 20% bonus, you are paying €475 for 24,000 miles.

Thirdly ….

…. PartnerPlusBenefit, the Lufthansa-run small business loyalty scheme, is offering double points on all Swiss flights from London City until September 2014. You need to register for this offer under the ‘promotions’ section of your PartnerPlusBenefit account.

Not joined miles & more( yet) but I see they have business to Dubai for 70,000 miles normally.
How easy are the points to collect( compared to Avios) and ideally do they release 4 seats in business per flight( during school holiday). Are the taxes similar to BA?

  Availability on Lufthansa is generally OK and there are lots of options – you can go to Dubai via Vienna on Austrian, via Zurich on Swiss or via Germany on LH. I have got 4 business seats with them before OK.
  
  European school holidays do not usually match UK ones which means the ‘pinch points’ for seats are different.
  
  As of now, for eg, for October half term week (25th October) which is the busiest week in Dubai, Lufty has 4 business seats going out on Monday 27th (day flight) and back on Sunday 2 November, albeit that routing is Dubai – Muscat – Frankfurt and then whatever UK connection you pick.
  
  Not ideal but BA has nothing.
  
  You can search for LH availability on the Miles & More website if you log in, you don’t need to have enough miles. Do not search from the UK, do a search starting in Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich and Vienna – this ensures you see long-haul availability even if the short-haul is not there.
  
  Taxes as high as BA, can be more!
  
  M&M allows one-ways so you can always mix and match with Avios seats.

      Are you sure somebody actually did steal the vouchers and it wasn’t done as part of the new statement coming up on Monday? I know that my vouchers have ‘disappeared’ before around the time of the new statement, but get reinstated when the new ones appear. Hope that is the case with you!

        They were definitely stolen, tesco replaced them straight away. However, having changed my password, I’ve just gone into my account to amend a shopping order and I’ve been locked out. I wonder if someone has been trying my old password? Tesco customer services closed until 9am 🙁

Anyone know how long it takes for PartnerPlus to credit flights claimed by ticket number? I’ve got a couple showing as “Successfully recorded tickets” but with no points issued for almost a month
