Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Hertz extends ‘triple Avios’ deal – up to 1,350 Avios per day

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

There is only one way to earn Avios points when renting with Hertz and that is to credit them to Iberia Plus.  Hertz is not a British Airways partner.

Once in Iberia Plus, you can easily move your Avios across to British Airways Executive Club or avios.com via the ‘Combine My Avios’ function online.

The attractive offer which Hertz and Iberia were offering in January and February has now been extended to the end of April.

Iberia is offering triple miles on all Hertz rentals.  The current deal – 300 Avios per day – is already attractive, so this is very impressive.

Full details can be found here on the Iberia website.

Private rentals earn from 300 to 450 Avios per day depending on the size of car rented.  Tripled, this will rise to 900 to 1,350 Avios per day.

Rentals booked using a corporate discount code only earn half of the above rates.

You must rent for a minimum of three days to get the ‘triple Avios’ deal.  There is a list of 775 ‘qualifying Hertz establishments’ on the website which is impossible to search, but I assume it must cover pretty much every Hertz depot, at least in Europe.

Also … triple miles with Etihad from Hertz

If you also have an Etihad Guest account, this offer from Hertz is also worth a look.  You will earn 1,500 Etihad Guest miles on a rental of three days or more.  Not all countries are included, but the UK is on the list.

Good luck actually getting your avios credited with Iberia. This reminds me of the saying: if it looks too good to be true..

Check out the Iberia thread on FT about getting third party stuff credited to your Iberia account.
At least with BA you can expect to get the avios, even if it is just a fraction.

  • Lady London says:

I checked rates using the codes Iberia list for some hires I did in February. Sadly it just wasn’t possible to booking using the promotion as rates went up hugely the moment the Iberia codes listed were used. Wondering does anyone know if the promo is valid if codes not listed in the promo write-up by Iberia are used.

  • RogerWilco says:

    The promo says

“To earn Triple Points you must introduce PC code 196593.”

The CDP could be anything (I guess) – just checked and adding th PC doesn’t change the code.

The IB CDP is (should be) for “Drive the new Hyundai i10 or similar in Spain mainland and enjoy up to 10% off as a IB Plus member with CDP codes…”

But however interesting this looks, I for one do not trust that the Avios would post smoothly to IB account, so I pass this one.
