Shopping discounts when you show a British Airways boarding pass

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

British Airways is currently running a shopping promotion aimed at overseas visitors called “The Big British Invite”.

One of the promotions is an interesting range of shopping discounts:

Big British Invite

Up to 20% off at Westfield Shepherds Bush or Stratford

15% off at McArthur Glen outlets

10% off at Bicester Village

10% off at Amanda Wakeley

10% off at Burlington Arcade

10% off at Liberty

…. amongst others.

Full details can be found here.  This is the BA China site and it also appears on the Indian site.

You will need to show an international (ie long haul) British Airways boarding pass to receive your discount.  Theoretically, it is only open to non-UK residents, but that is going to be a tricky one to disprove!

Most of the offers run until the end of March.

It’ll be interesting if I share my upcoming inbound YVR-LHR boarding card via screenshot with friends who are going shopping at Bicester Village next week to see if they get the discount. And if I’ll earn any Avios thanks to them!

  • Will says:

It’d be interesting to know if this is above the normal 10% that most people can get when they visit the info desk for a one day only ‘VIP’ card.

  • ck says:

Is there a list of participating shops/restaurants and how much the discount is? Also, you can get the same offer with a receipt from visitbritain.com.

  • rp says:

I used this offer at bicester, it is effectively the VIP offer (10% off) so you can’t double up the discounts. Some stores are excluded; Prada etc from memory. I showed my BA e-ticket on my email to the people at the visitors desk and it was sufficient to get the discount. FYI – I am a UK resident, I wasnt asked to prove otherwise.

  • TimS says:

Terms (for Westfield at least) include:

    · Valid for non-UK residents only
    · Must be claimed within seven days of arriving into the UK on a British Airways operated or marketed (codeshare) flight with boarding pass and/or booking confirmation
    · Valid on British Airways flight numbers inbound to the UK only
    · 1 VIP Pass per boarding pass
    · Additional terms apply – see VIP Pass for full list

At Bicester I was able to show my BA Andriod app boarding pass and they were happy with that.

Some stores had a £50 minimum. Bought a pair of shoes at Clarks that was £49 and was refused. Added a £3 bottle of shoe cleaner and got the 10% off!

  • Anon says:

Like others we did the 10% VIP at Bicester – we only live down the road. A boarding pass to Aberdeen was enough to get it. Sad thing is we weren’t really in the mood. Got a coffee at Starbucks and that was about it!
