Amex Membership Rewards still offering 20% bonus on train ticket redemptions

One of my favourite American Express Membership Rewards offers is East Coast Trains, oddly enough.
I just noticed that this ‘temporary’ special offer is still running, about a year after it started, so I wanted to highlight it again.
You can redeem your Membership Rewards points for East Coast Trains evouchers. The standard redemption rate is 0.5p per point (based on £25 multiples). However, Amex is offering a 20% bonus on all redemptions.
With the 20% bonus, you are getting 0.6p per Membership Rewards points. This isn’t fantastic, by any means, but a heck of a lot better than any of the other ‘pseudo cash’ redemptions, such as statement credit or buying travel through the Amex website. It is also far better than all of the other gift card options.
What really makes this offer work well, though, is how it is constructed.
You receive your e-voucher INSTANTLY. Click ‘Redeem’ on the Membership Reward website and up pops your voucher code. You enter this into the East Coast website and you are instantly in credit and ready to buy train tickets.
The East Coast website sells tickets for ALL train companies, including Heathrow Express
East Coast charges no booking fees and no credit card fees. There is a £1 postage charge, but you can avoid this by collecting your ticket from a ticket machine at the station.
Next time you find yourself having to book a train ticket, bear this in mind. It only takes a couple of minutes to generate the e-voucher and you can instantly get your ticket booked.
Full details can be found on the Membership Rewards website here.
