How Four Seasons Hampshire looks after kids ….

This is my review of how the Four Seasons hotel in Hampshire looks after young children.

Here are some pictures from our stay at Four Seasons Hampshire last weekend, as I discuss in my main post today. These people know how to look after families better than anywhere else I know.

And I haven’t shown you the steps at the front desk so they can climb up to see what is happening, the toy box at check-in they can raid, the free kids club, the free meals for under 5’s in some restaurants, the super-high quality oversized cots and Oliver, the hotel dog you can take for walks.

And this is NOT somewhere that advertises itself as a family hotel, just a very well run one.

Amazing, really. I have just thrown away the welcome letter of another London 5-star property which explained why they didn’t want children under 12 in their club lounge. Not to mention the hotel in the Winelands/South Africa which took pride in their strict no-children policy as their guests deserve peace and tranquility…

  I’ve got no problem with adults only hotels though. They provide a different service for those who want to get away from the kids!

    Just back from the recycling bin 😀 I received the above mentioned letter during a recent stay. Let me quote:
    
    “Dear Guest
    I would like to wish you a very warm welcome to Sofitel London Heathrow. As one of our Club Millésime guests, we invite you to make full use of the Club’s exclusive lounge where you can enjoy all of the following complimentary services […]
    
    Club Millésime is designed to be an executive lounge. We would therefore respectfully remind all our guests that only accompanied children above the age of 12 are permitted in Club Millésime. If there is anything else that we can do to make your stay more enjoyable, please do not hesitate to contact myself or my team…”
    
    So…another few years to go before Max and Molly are allowed to enter this exclusive lounge. The combination “no children under 12 allowed” – “anything else we can do to please you?” reveals their attitude towards kids compared to the different approach at the Four Seasons Hampshire.

      I have also had a recent negative response to a booking enquiry regarding accommodating my daughter in my room at the Sofitel Beijing. Only 2 persons per room can gain access to the lounge. This is after they want to charge £45 per night to put a rollaway in the room. They have lost the business as effectively they are denying all of us lounge access.

  luxury is about options, your given the choice, and you declined.
  Its harder to find somewhere that I can go to avoid kids, than it is for those who want to take them

  No. I have been staying there ever since it opened in 2005, though – this was probably our 8th or 9th visit. However, they treat everyone the same (possibly the stuff on the plates was only because we had a suite).

What catagorey room did you book and was it upgraded on arrival?

I’m guessing you were in a suite based on the soap as standard rooms are l’occitane. Firm fan of the Four Seasons Hampshire, but keen to try out city stay in FS Canery Wharf with 2 kids as they appear to look after kids well.

  Yes, a Daneshill Suite. We don’t normally have something as big (normally take an Executive Suite) but with the upgrade and the 3-for-2 it made sense.
  
  As I mentioned in the post, they are doing the upgrades at the time of booking until 31st March – Virtuoso agents only – so you can book one level lower than the room you want with 100% confidence of the upgrade. The confirmation they send you already shows the upgraded room.
