Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Avios.com and BAEC redemptions sales start at noon, Iberia sale ends tomorrow

Today is the day that avios.com and British Airways Executive Club will launch their January ‘sale’.

avios.com has made a big play of its offers with emails and tweets going out left, right and centre.  Ironically, the BA sale is incredibly low-key and if the British Airways rep on Flyertalk hadn’t mentioned it, no-one would know it was happening.

(It is not clear, at the moment, if both avios.com and BA will have the same offers.  Even if they do, it is beneficial that BA is copying the deals, as it will allow you to use a British Airways American Express 2-4-1 voucher if you have one.)

Avios sale

There will be six different promotions over the next 14 days, with each lasting for 2-3 days before being replaced by another.  I will keep you up to date with them all via Head for Points, of course!

Whilst we wait for the launch at noon, don’t forget the impressive Iberia Avios redemption sale that I wrote about on Saturday.  We are talking about Madrid to New York, for example, for just 20000 Avios in Economy and 40000 Avios in Business Class, plus taxes of just £150, give or take.

The last day to book the discounted Iberia redemptions is tomorrow.

  • Jonny says:

The avios website has a banner which shows 50% off longhall redemptions. I think I can see this because I am currently in Aus and midday has passed here and for some reason it shows it for me.

The small print at the bottom of the banner says “to select destinations” but when I click to see the t&c’s the link is dead…..

Sale is for 2 days. Hope this helps!

  • Worzel says:

    Helps me -thank you Jonny.

  • Manuel says:

    Curious!

  • Tony says:

Avios web developers really are a bunch of amateurs!

If you play with the clock on your compute you can see all the offers. As noted it’s 50% off long haul today. Next week it’s RFS for £1 instead of £35. 25% off car hire, 50% off hotels, a discount on Eurostar are all in there.

    😀

    • rob says:

RFS for £1 sounds great for those if us with families (assuming availability is there)

  • Tom says:

Wonder if RFS will be on all our just ltd destinations. All would be immense!

  • PGW says:

Looks like the devil will be in the detail as usual. I’m anticipating very limited routes and no premium redemptions but I’d really like to be proved wrong of course.

  • Simon says:

Long haul 50% off Avios needed is WT only. For flights to Boston, Chicago, Dubai, Denver, Shanghai, New York, Toronto, Washington. Also spotted this in the T&C’s:

“This offer cannot be combined with any other offer [but may be used with the Lloyds Credit Card Companion Vouchers].”

Also RFS for £1 says selected destinations only…

  • Georgie says:

Pity they can’t seem to keep their website functioning, when they have given this sale such a big build up !
