30% discount on House of Fraser gift cards for Amex cardholders

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

This offer came to light too late for Christmas, unfortunately, but may still be worth a look if you are a regular House of Fraser customer.

Amex is running a promotion with House of Fraser allowing you to order a HOF gift card – for any value – at a 30% discount.

I don’t know where Amex originally promoted this offer.  However, their partnership with SVM Europe (whose website you buy from) is genuine and Amex ran a similar offer via them last year.

Unfortunately, one of the offers then was for HMV gift cards, just before they fell into receivership!  House of Fraser is more stable, though.  SVM is also the same company that TopCashback uses for its new gift card service that I mentioned yesterday.

    SVM … Not SMV.

Thanks for the tip. Might get £50 ordered.

  • john says:

I only see these available in £20 denominations (at a cost of £14) and up to a maximum of 10.

    • Geoggy says:

That’s a shame this could have given decent discount on a virgin holiday as my hof has a virgin travel shop in

    • Adey says:

I didn’t checkout but after adding 10 x £20 cards, I was able to update my shopping basket to e.g. 100 cards, with the totals updating OK. At checkout I needed to register, which I haven’t done.

So there is a good chance that the £200 limit isn’t, err, a limit.

Note in the T&C there are some exclusions. One such is that they are non reedemable against large kitchen appliances.

Yes. Annoyingly, they had higher values when I wrote this last week but seem to have sold a lot since.

  • Boi says:

    follow

  • Mottelgamzol says:

Can this be used at Harrods?

    • Lady London says:

Harrods is no longer part of the Fraser Group. That was some decades back, sadly

Would suggest anyone getting these spends them quick.

Plus, there may be various in-store exclusions which might include “shop-in-shops” such as might be travel shops etc. operated within the store.

  • Mottelgamzol says:

    Can it be used online?

    • Lorcancoyle says:

      • Gift Cards are only redeemable for merchandise in House of Fraser stores in the United Kingdom and Ireland and online at http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk (exclusions apply). Please note, Gift Cards cannot be used for the redemption of large kitchen appliances or mobile phones.

    • Sinizter says:

Yes. You can even use multiple gift cards and then other methods to top up. Max I have used is 3 cards in one transaction, but they would have taken more.

      • Mr Bridge says:

i bought a tv last year £1400, using £25 cards form tesco, they all went in fine, and paid the odd on amex

  • Lorcancoyle says:

Great tip – having just got keys to a new place with an induction hob I’m in the market for various household (non-large) items. £400 ordered with special delivery taking back some of the discount

If I’m lucky will arrive Christmas Eve, if not, I’ll survive! Did HMV last year and used same day, think HoF is a bit more stable, but wouldn’t wait too long

  • Phillip says:

Apologies if I missed it but is there any indication as to how long the offer is on for? Or is it until they decide they have no more gift cards left?

    • Eshaq Choudhury says:

They will pull it without notice. Not sure what their limit is but last time it dissapeared in about 1-2 weeks.

  • Jon says:

Annoyingly, it does seem like 200 pounds is the limit. I tried changing the basket number to 50 instead of 10 and it just changes it to 1 voucher when I come to pay.

If I get 200 pounds with special delivery, the saving falls to 11 percent once you take into account the delivery costs.

Thanks for posting this offer though. Good but I wouldn’t trust the standard mail delivery.

Note – HSBC offer a similar discount scheme (http://www.homeandaway.hsbc.com/1/2/hna2/local/gb/offers?country=gb&category=&cardtype=&currentPage=3)

Disclaimer – I haven’t used this website previously (I get vouchers through work instead)

    • Eshaq Choudhury says:

To add more than £200, after adding 10 x £20, click continue shopping, then add to basket again. Repeat until you’ve got the required amount in your basket. Thats what I did.
