IHG Rewards Club, the Holiday Inn / Crowne Plaza etc hotel group, has announced that its current promotion, ‘The Big Win’, will return in January.

You may have read some of my recent posts (eg this one) about ‘mattress run’ nights I did in cheap locations to hit the low target on my wifes account.  I spent just under £200 to earn over 100,000 IHG Rewards Club points, which should get me around £600 of free stays if used properly.

IHG Rewards Club

Registration for the January edition of ‘The Big Win’ should open on Monday.

It will run from January 1st to April 30th.

There is little more to say at the moment, until we see what sort of targets people are getting.  If IHG has set the bar a lot higher than it did for the Winter promotion, it won’t be much fun – but let’s see.

The registration page is now open and is here.

My own account needs 10 nights which is very unlikely.  My wife needs 3 nights / 3 brands / 3 Saturdays, so effectively 3 Saturday nights would do it.  Saturday is a terrible day for us to do mattress run nights, though, and her bonus is only 31,000 points anyway.

My Mum has the most useful selection.  5 nights required (any days) across 3 brands, must include 2 HIX properties (same OK or different?).  Bonus of 98,000 plus the usual points.  This looks worth a punt.  I think I will see what comes up naturally between now and Easter, and then try to pick up some cheap nights over the Easter break right at the last gasp.

Any clues on what “views.dashboard.offer.dd.header” might be yet?

    • Rob says:

No, hope its nothing too painful!

      • Will says:

        5 nights 8.4k
        2 brands 9.6k
        views.dashboard.offer.dd.header 20k
        Survey 100 points
        2 Saturdays 4.8k
        Book twice on app 4.8k
        2 HIX 4.8k
        Win big (Complete all) 53k

Worried about the views.dashboard.offer.dd.header due to value, otherwise a straight forward 105,500 points

  • Mark says:

I seem to have a total of 9,000 points on offer for 2 stays at 2 Crowne Plaza hotels, one of which must be best flexible rate with breakfast and at least 4 nights in total.

    I don’t think I’ll be bothering…..

Is this random, or am being penalised for having a long standing dormant account?

    Seems rather odd.

    • Rob says:

That is the worst so far, I admit!

    • Brian says:

Given that the default option for new accounts gives you 31,000, I suspect that you’ve missed something. If not, then get your other half or a friend to open up a new account…

  • Andrew says:

I seem to have hit lucky with this one:

    Stay a total of 4 nights 8,000
Book 2 stays with IHG website 3,200
    Book 2 different brands 16,000
    Survey 100
    2 Saturdays 8,000
    2 Crowne Plaza’s 12,000
views.dashboard.offer.dd.title 20,000 (this could be the killer)
    Win Big 67,000

TOTAL 134,000 which could be done in 4 nights 🙂

  • Andrew says:

I think the views.dashboard.offer.dd. one could be either sign up for the Credit Card or book with a Credit Card.

    • Wesi says:

      Eeeee, I hope not. 🙁

    • Rob says:

Quite a lot of US participants in the last Big Win did get a box saying ‘apply for the PC credit card’, so you’re right, it is possible that the new UK version incorporates that. The very high 20,000 point bonus attached to that box also sounds a bit like a credit card sign-up bonus.

Pain for me if true as I’m not sure my pensioner Mum is a dead cert to get approved.

      • Will says:

“Get the Priority Club Rewards Visa, brought to you by IHG® Rewards Club, use it to book and pay for 1 stay and earn 20,000 points. 18.9% APR Representative (variable)”

        That’s mine for 20k

        • Rob says:

Question – is this 20k on top of the usual 15k sign up bonus?! Presumably it is.

          • will says:

my wife can be the guinea pig to find out it seems! she only cancelled her IHG basic card this year so might be interesting. prety sure it was over 6 months ago but will need to check

          • Tom says:

That is nice then.. mine is a meagre 10k though..boo 🙂

  • Martin says:

Does anyone know if reward nights count?

Mines a bit more achievable than last time

Stay 4 brands – had 6 the last time
Stay 14 nights – had 18 last time
Stay 2 Saturday night – had 4 last time

Flip side to it is its 96k up for grabs, had 126k last time but had no chance of doing it.

  • Tom says:

    Is the new bigwin.ihg.com down?

I registered yesterday with no problems, but no I try to log back in and it just takes me back to the main page, without logging me in or giving any errors. The main IHG and the reservations site are working fine.

I wondered whether they were trying to fix the ‘dashboard’ code error that I got as one of my targets?

    • Alan says:

      I think it’s win.ihg.com, not bigwin.ihg.com 🙂

    • Alan says:

Oops apologies, Q4 2013 is win.ihg.com, Q1 2014 is indeed bigwin.ihg.com – both are working OK for me!

      • Tom says:

Strange, I can log in to the 2013 site, but not the 2014.
What also frustrates me is how you have to log in using your membership number, rather than your email address. At least the 2014 site seems to have the option to ‘remember me’.

  • Dominic says:

Any idea how one chases up credits to a Big Win that haven’t posted? The stays have posted in my account, but the completion of the BW targets isn’t….

    • Tom says:

When did you complete the stays? For me, the ‘standard’ points posted within the normal 2-4 days later, whereas the big win badges didn’t register for another 3-4 days after.
If it has been longer than that, contact the IHG support team by email – they are usually pretty good.

      • Julie says:

I stayed at Hi Calais on 6 &7th dec, made two separate bookings for my big win promo. What I didn’t realise was that the receptionist cancelled one booking and attached it on to the other. I dont know if this has caused me a problem because So far I have had no points post at all, either standard or big Win. I am reluctant to contact them as I have had an email about my account being registered for promos that I am not eligible for, if this continues we will close your account, etc, etc

        Anyone any ideas ?

        • Rob says:

          Retroclaim, you’ll be fine.

          • Julie says:

Not sure i fully understand, Wont they still see that I have registered for codes that I shouldn’t have? Or do these codes eventually disappear after a certain amount of time

          • Rob says:

The missing stay is dealt with by a processing centre in the Philippines. They couldn’t care less what codes you have registered.

  • Matthew Hamer says:

    Stay 4 nights – 8k
    Breakfast – 2k
    Survey – 100
    2 x Saturday – 8k
    views.dashboard.offer.p.header (WTF!!) – 10k
    Complete All – 28k.
