IHG Rewards Club, the Holiday Inn / Crowne Plaza etc hotel group, has announced that its current promotion, ‘The Big Win’, will return in January.

You may have read some of my recent posts (eg this one) about ‘mattress run’ nights I did in cheap locations to hit the low target on my wifes account.  I spent just under £200 to earn over 100,000 IHG Rewards Club points, which should get me around £600 of free stays if used properly.

IHG Rewards Club

Registration for the January edition of ‘The Big Win’ should open on Monday.

It will run from January 1st to April 30th.

There is little more to say at the moment, until we see what sort of targets people are getting.  If IHG has set the bar a lot higher than it did for the Winter promotion, it won’t be much fun – but let’s see.

The registration page is now open and is here.

My own account needs 10 nights which is very unlikely.  My wife needs 3 nights / 3 brands / 3 Saturdays, so effectively 3 Saturday nights would do it.  Saturday is a terrible day for us to do mattress run nights, though, and her bonus is only 31,000 points anyway.

My Mum has the most useful selection.  5 nights required (any days) across 3 brands, must include 2 HIX properties (same OK or different?).  Bonus of 98,000 plus the usual points.  This looks worth a punt.  I think I will see what comes up naturally between now and Easter, and then try to pick up some cheap nights over the Easter break right at the last gasp.

I registered this morning via a link through flyer talk I have been offered 115k maximum. Some if the info is not up there referring to a dashboard offer 20k , but includes 2 stays at IC , 5 nights , booking one flexible night with breakfast, two stays in location but it includes more cities in uk . 58k big win if you complete 7 out of 8 .

Must admit gonna miss the current big win as have hotel booked in
Madrid for 28th December for two nights but we are no longer taking the trip due to family. Non refundable and no stay no points! Thought I had this one in the bag v easily ! waiting to see if a Frankfurt trip using two hotels will post as completing the living in the city stay.

  • Dave says:

I just registered ok from the link Raffles sent although my offers were very underwhelming – 21000 points on offer with tougher criteria than the recent one (3 saturday night stays for 6000 points compared to 8000 for 2 in the current one)and the big win bonus is 10000 for completing them all…still better than nothing I guess!

  • Manuel says:

    Here is mine.

Total of 86.000 For my platinum account and tougher stuff

    13 instead of 11 nights
    3 saturday instead of 2
    3 holiday Inn.
    4 Brands = same
2 full flexible rate with breakfast

  • Harry Holden says:

    Mine is live.

Similar offers to winter but more focused on my current behaviour. Example, stay in 5 of the following cities and get 24000 points saw me in Washington DC, Chicago and Mexico City last year. This time it’s London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen – all places I stay with work anyway. Big Win lump of 64000 points is for completing only 6 of the 8 challenges.

162000 points will be sewn up by March.

  • Colin MacKinnon says:

Still to complete my first Big Win as a new IHG member.
Have been offered for this one:
    One night: 1,000
    Three nights in total: 3,000
    Three brands: 7,000
    Two online bookings; 2,000
    Three Saturdays: 8,000
    Big Win: 10,000

Total: 31,000 – so not too exciting!

    • erico1875 says:

      Colin,
Remember to load all the bonus codes in Raffles earlier posts

      • Rob says:

Yes, at least 25,000 points to be had there. One of those codes automatically makes you Gold as well, which will trigger additional Elite Member bonuses on your next stay.

        • Colin MacKinnon says:

          Hi Raffles

Yes, I loaded al the codes, thanks.

But I didn’t see the one that gave me Gold?

Also, I remember seeing an IHG page that said which codes I was registered for, but can’t find it again! Any idea where it is, please?

  • Commentator 626 says:

I tuned out of IHG a few years ago and have let my Platinum gracefully decline down to Basic level, when I felt Platinum wasn’t offering me anything.

This time round the offer seems a bit more reachable:

    Stay at 2 HI Hotels = 7,200
    Stay 2 Sat. Nights = 7,200
    Book 2 separate stays = 2,900
    Do a Survey = 100
    Stay 5 nights = 12,600
    Complete 5 offers = 30,000

Seems like I could get 47,400 from two well organised Saturday stays…just not sure how enticing 47,400 points are to me, when I have plenty points already.

    • Commentator 626 says:

Oh hang on, I just realised I was including the “Win Big” item in my count of five. I don’t think I’ll be bothering with a 5 night stay.

      • Calchas says:

That’s five nights in total, not in one stay. (Unless you have received a less generous offer than me!)

  • Chris says:

Sorry if a silly question but how does the Big Win work with newly registered accounts? Does the personalised offer occur on registering for the promotion? Need to build up to 105k points quite quickly (say 3 months) for a three night stay at the Holiday Inn Phi Phi during 2014. Guessing I could get there via the promotion and the IHG premium card (assuming 40k points offer is still live). Would this be the best strategy?

    • Alan says:

Yes, newly registered accounts seem to get a default offer after registering, so combining this with the 40k sign-up and Plat status for all the Big Win stays sounds like a good thought.

    • Chris says:

      Thanks Alan

  • Stuart N says:

Bit more challeing this time… but 168,300 up for grabs.

    Stay 39 nights (thirty nine!!!) – 28,400
    Stay 4 brands – 19,200
    Book 3 stays with IHG.com – 2,200
    Unknown error offer – 20,000
    Take survey – 100
    Stay 2 cities – 9,600
    Stay 2 Saturdays – 4,800
    Complete all offers – 84,000

Four brands is going to need the most creativity – last time it was just three. And then once they fix the broken one, that could be a torpedo… just need to wait and see.

    • Robert says:

I had the stay four brands in my present big win – I was about to give up on it but saw a good opening rate at the Staybridge Suites in Birmingham (just over £60). Throw in a £50 Crowne Plaza weekend night near LHR and it suddenly became achievable
