Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Win 5,000 Clubcard points (12,000 Avios) every day until April

Tesco Bank has come up with a novel way to promote Tesco Car Insurance.  Every day, until 15th April, it is offering 5,000 Tesco Clubcard points to someone who asks for a car insurance quote.

Full details can be found here.

Unfortunately, entries are not carried forward.  You would therefore need to get a car insurance quote every day to ensure that you were in each daily draw.

It isn’t a bad prize, although I don’t know how many quotes Tesco gives out each day – albeit that only people who give their Clubcard number when getting a quote are included.

I guess some people here have maybe 5+ cards. Best strategy would be to pick a quiet day and bang in 5 entries all at once.

What makes a quiet day? Probably not today thanks to this post from Raffles.

But probably early on in the campaign, maybe Thursday or Friday?

I’d hazard a guess that this week there’ll be fewer than (say) 200 entries a day.

So your 5 entries might give you a c.3% chance of winning 5000 points.

Having been the victim of identity fraud, I am one of those people who check their full credit report on a regular basis. I noticed that insurance companies do a credit search when you ask them for a quote. Will tesco do that every day if you make the most of this promotion? For each of your Clubcards?
Well, in this case, are they not likely to discover multiple card accounts? Haha, in April I will have to buy some extra paper and toner for my printer when I print off my longest credit report ever…

Ink shouldn’t be a problem if you stocked up during the 750 clubcard points promotion…!

Creditexpert says that searches by Insurance companies do not count for your credit score.

  • Mark says:

I’m still persevering with the My Kitchen app on Facebook but this one is a bridge too far for me, all the best to anyone entertaining the idea of entering daily!

  • Iain says:

You can also get a freebie 125 points for telling them your renewal dates.
Obviously you’ll get a load of e-mails, but it is free points!

  • Colin MacKinnon says:

If you get a quote on moneysupermarket.com, they get you to fill out all your details – including Clubcard (or Nectar, can’t remeber which) – at the first time.

Then search, click though to Tesco and you’ll have a “quote”.

To repeat each day, just log on to your insurance search company, “update” quotes (so no more info to type in) and click through again?

    Will this work?

  • colm says:

The terms and conditions seem a big vague to me as to whether you will get an entry every day:

“Only one winner per Clubcard. Customers will only be entered into one draw for the day they quoted and only 1 quote per customer will count. The entry instructions form part of the rules. By entering, you agree to accept and be bound by the rules.”

1 quote per customer doesn’t specify whether it’s 1 quote per day or 1 quote for the duration of the promotion.

They probably aren’t expecting people to be entering more than once!
