New Tesco promo – 100 Clubcard points (240 Avios) with £20 gift card purchase

If you’re in your local Tesco this week, make sure you pick up a copy of ‘Tesco Food Family Living’ magazine.

It looks like this.

And, on page 132, there is a coupon.

It gets you 100 bonus Clubcard points (240 Avios) with the purchase of a single gift card of £20 or above.

This should – I don’t see why not – stack with the ongoing offer of 150 bonus Clubcard points when you spend £50 or more on gift cards.

Whilst the voucher says that Visa branded cards are excluded, the rules of the ‘150 bonus points’ offer also say this – but they still count.  The coupons definitely work with 3V Virtual Visa cards.

This is a very decent offer, so I would pick up a few copies of the magazine if you can.

3V website is down this morning. Does this imply changes or something more worrying.

    • Simon says:

There is an IT glitch at the moment with their systems I’ve heard.

Don’t bother going out to buy any at the moment either, activations aren’t working also.

  • Trevor says:

Ok, just had a succcessful shop. Found 4 x 3V cards in aTesco where I have never seen them before – and they were hidden behind some other cards! Got my 5 magazines for vouchers, and along with £44 of groceries I went to the till.
    1 x £8 discount on £80 spend from last statement – check
1 x £5 helping hand voucher from last week’s shop (using £8 discount voucher again) – check
    4 x 3V cards successfully activated – check
    748 CC points (48 shopping + 2×150 + 4×100) – check!
Total spend: £131, but since 3V cards aren’t actually spend (yet), that reduces it to £31. And since 748 CC is almost £7.50 in vouchers which can get you up to 4 times value in Boost, that’s only £1 spent on my groceries – Score!

I only realised when the teller pointed it out that the 100 bonus points are per £20+ gift card (which did of course work on the VISA 3V cards, despite T&Cs), not per £20. Since I had 4 gift cards, that meant I could only use 4 vouchers, despite spending 5x£20=£100 on gift cards. All in all, a very successful trip! Thanks, Raffles 🙂

    • Trevor says:

PS: Considering the 2 Avios / £1 spent on my credit card, that’s 262 Avios worth around £2.60, so actually in profit! And since I have more £8 discount coupons and another £5 HH voucher, you can guess where I’ll be shopping.

      • Jonny says:

that’s an excellent result – hoping for something similar myself if i can find some 3v’s and some magazines (both fairly unlikely though did find a few 3vs earlier in the week)

not surprised its per £20+ voucher as opposed to per £20 spend (t&c’s seemed fairly clear on this).

Interesting thing is combining the vouchers with the “extra cost” visas cards (which i might buy using helping hands). If you buy a £50 card, you’ll pay an extra £3.95 but get 150 + 100 clubcard points using the voucher (=600 avios). Buy 2 x £25 cards and pay an extra£5.90 but get 150 + 200 cc pts (=840 avios). Extra 240 Avios for 1.85 = 0.8p each. Not enough to tempt me but might interest some.

  • Ian says:

Wondering if the voucher will still work on the £20 Pizza Express gift cards that are discounted by 20% at the moment. Sometimes these offers work off the pre-discount price.

    • andy L says:

Voucher worked for me yesterday but at the discounted rate for PE gift card. Happy hunting!

    • Simon says:

I got an offer of 200 points when you buy a £20 Pizza Express gift card emailed to me today from Tesco Bank (I’ve got a Tesco Credit Card). It said the offer was only available to the recipient of the email though.

  • James67 says:

Is there an expiry date for the magazine voucher? Wondering if I can still take advantage of it when I return from overseas.

    • Rob says:

Its on the picture in the post (which I can’t see as I type) but I think it was the end of December?

      • James67 says:

Thanks guys, hopefully there will be a stack of 3V cards awaiting me on my return along withaome usefil till spits to tempt me back after a months absence 🙂

  • Michael says:

Does anyone know when the 20 % off gift cards started. Bought some Accessorize on Sunday only but they were not discounted.

  • pazza2000 says:

Is there a link to the 20% off gift cards promo? I can’t find any details online.

  • wetboy1uk says:

Can’t see how buying visa cards makes you in profit at all considering the additional fees you have to pay ontop of the value of the card

    • Rob says:

It works if you have a Helping Hand voucher or other Tesco coupon. And even without that it is £3.95 for 360 Avios which is not terrible …. With the 100 bonus points coupons you’d be getting 840 Avios for £6 (assuming you buy 2x£25 cards with a £3 fee).

      • wetboy1uk says:

thanks raffles, think i will give it a try. any other ideas on boosting avios or ba miles – or tesco points-. trying to boost as many as possibel before end of jan. ta

  • wetboy1uk says:

ON a different note – does anyone know of any way for searching for items with additional clubcard points on Tesco website
