New Tesco promo – 100 Clubcard points (240 Avios) with £20 gift card purchase

  Forgive me.

  So you’d need to take 3 of these vouchers to take full advantage? Buy 3 x £20 giftcards, that way you would get 3 x 100 points and 150 points for spending greater than £50 on giftcards?

  The sweet spot would be 5 vouchers and 5 x £20 giftcards, is that how everybody else see’s it?

    Says single use so I would assume only 1 per account permitted. So best use is as Raffles suggests: single £50 giftcard transaction.

    Ok I have an Argos purchase for £125. So 2x £50 (100pts + 150 pts x 2) and then £25 (100pts) = 600cc points (1440 Avios) + another 250 for amex spend. So thats pretty good imo

    Slightly miffed as I had spent £150 on B+Q vouchers yesterday and only got the 150 per £50. Tradepoint have 20% off radiators so made quite a saving that way

      As it turned out I ended up buying £150 argos vouchers. ( 6 x £25)
      My local Tesco had no magazines but I came armed with the voucher photo, above, on my Kindle HD. The checkout manager kindly inputted the code 6 times by hand , so a total of 1050 cc points. + 300 Amex points. + £5 helping hand voucher
      Im ordering another kindle HD online from argos for store collection.Theres a free £20 voucher on collection too.There may be 900 Nectar points on this spend too. ( 6 points per £) not sure if that only applies if you pay online or not.
      Anyway, a very profitable shop

  One if my local stores has started stocking again after a long absence, but the next closest never restocks.

  Wonder if they have local jurisdiction over what gets purchased?

    At Tesco Dundee they said that stocking is done every morning by an external supplier and the store has no say- not sure if this means a central Tesco card Tsar or an in-store third party concession.

  I can’t wait for the usual comments of some HFP specialists like e.g. “Just banked 15,000 CC points, put the whole brochure holder in my trolley at Tesco Manchester. Did the same in Leeds and Liverpool. On my way to Chester now (typing this on my iPhone 5s). Does anybody know if I can use the VISA gift cards for paying my tax bill?” 🙂

    It does make you wonder though, at what point might Tesco pick up on the fact that the voucher has been used multiple times on one account.

      But what does ‘single use’ mean? Does it just mean that you need 1 coupon per £20 card, ie that you cannot keep the coupon but must hand it over at checkout?

      If Tesco meant ‘only one coupon per Clubcard account’ they would have said that.

        Raffles, I completely agree with you.

        For me, single use refers to the individual voucher. Like with many other promotions though, I just wonder how many times they will allow someone get the bonus with a different voucher each time.

  Thanks for this, if you just read the magazine online (as I did) it’s a bit misleading in my opinion as there is no mention of a coupon being needed to get the extra points.

    It doesn’t. It says ‘single use only’, which I take to read that the coupon can only be used once and you will need multiple coupons to buy multiple cards.

      My guess is that if you buy 2+ gift cards the same paper coupon will work if scanned multiple times, though depends on whether the checkout assistant is willing to do so!

      Based on experience, some insist on taking paper coupons away from you (although they shouldn’t work more than once anyway) whilst others dont bother and will even scan coupons saved on my phone!

      If one can get 350pts for 2x3v coupons, using a single voucher from the magazine, it would represent quite a result – counting on a lot of “if’s” though (find 3v, find the magazine, coupon works on 3v, coupon works multiple times, they accept it multiple times…..!)

        I suppose you could buy something like £100 Amazon vouchers and get loads of points — 150 points twice for £50 spend, 100 points times 5 for each voucher. So 800 points on a £100 spend.

          You could indeed…but not with Amazon as Tesco don’t do Amazon vouchers.

          They do however do B&Q and Toys R Us vouchers, which is a good way of getting such spend on to Amex as those stores don’t accept Amex cards.

          In fact I usually buy gift cards in Tesco for other stores if I am planning a big spend there simply in order to get the 150 clubcard points per £50 spend (plus the double MRs for supermarket spend as I am in the 1st year of my Gold Rewards card).

    3 separate purchases of £20 cards using 3 coupons would get you 300 clubcard points.

    However 3x £20 cards in the same transaction (assuming only 1 bonus points coupon allowed per transaction) would get you 250 clubcard points inc the 150 bonus for spending £50 on gift cards. But you would also get a £5 Helping Hand voucher too, which I would value higher than the extra 50 CC points!

    And if you bought 2x Babies R Us gift cards at £15 each as well as 1x £20 Toys R Us card you could hit the £50 target on the nose for the same 250 CC points & £5 Helipng Hand voucher return.

          You can get more than one in a week, but only 1 per transaction. And only 1 can be redeemed per £40 transaction too. That doesn’t stop you breaking your transactions down into £40 lots though & redeeming one voucher per time.

          I got 2x £5 HH vouchers last week over 2 transactions & redeemed one of them yesterday, getting another £5 HH voucher with my receipt to use w/c 25th November.

          While the £5 voucher SAYS it cannot be redeemed on gift cards, I used one yesterday to buy £50 of BabiesRus & mothercare gift cards (along with around £3 of “grocery” spend) and they accepted the Helping Hand voucher without question. I also got another £5 voucher with my receipt to use next week too!

          had I known about the 100 bonus CC coupon too that would have been perfect but I’ll save that for next week…

          i found a few 3v cards the other day – was going to buy £100 in 1 go but the checkout lady suggested splitting into 2 to get 2 helping hands, and was also more than happy for me to use my HH’s I had already accumulated!

          it is unusual to have HH’s 2 weeks’ in succession – just means that one can buy the 53.95 visas, which then pay for themselves with the HH for the following week etc.

  Afternoon all,

  I had 11 helping hands, and 5 x £20.00 off £100 electrical spends from 3V purchases last week.

  I used the lot this week, buying 21 Epsom cartridges that got me 400 bonus points each.

  Total Cost was around £520, with all the vouchers it worked out at £370.

  Sold the lot on eBay for around £490, and broke even after all the fees and postage etc…..

  But got 9060 clubcard points in the process worth around 25000 avios.

  Also got another load of helping hand vouchers for next week too, which i’ll use to buy a load more 3v’s.

    Where do you live?! I’ve not seen a single 3V voucher for about 3 months now. It is pathetic really, but I actually walk to three different Tesco stores most lunchtimes to check.
