Free Virgin, Cathay and Hilton status with FoundersCard
Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.
FoundersCard is, one of the face it, one of those annoying ‘networking’ groups that tries to extricate you from your money in return for the potential to meet interesting new business contacts.
FoundersCard is a bit different, though. For a start, it has already shown in the US that it can do OK, and is now pushing out over here. More interestingly, they have lined up a very impressive list of benefits for members.
The website is a bit vague about their partners to put it mildly. However, I can tell you that they offer:
Virgin Flying Club Silver
Cathay Pacific Marco Polo Club Silver (equivalent to BA Bronze)
Hilton HHonors Gold status to March 2015
and some other bits and pieces, including preferred rates at a lot of top hotels. (They used to offer Lufthansa FTL / Silver status as well, but this has now been withdrawn.) The hotels look interesting, eg they offer rooms for £200 at The Sanderson in London as a negotiated rate.
Membership is nominally $395 although there seem to be lots of discount and codes available if you dig. If you used it properly, there does seem to be the potential to save back the value of your membership fee and more besides. That said, if you do a search on FoundersClub over at Flyertalk you will discussions about claimed benefits with American Airlines and Starwood which were not exactly as detailed, so buyer beware.
