  I’m definitely doing this one today. I’ve just told my wife about it and she thinks I’m mad…. but I’m doing it anyway. The funny thing is that I don’t hear her complaining when she’s sat in F on BA….

  I have heard elsewhere that it was only those that got refunds, that points were removed. Can anyone confirm if this actually true? Or was it definitely those ordering multiple copies?

  Is 4 (mixed platforms) per account too much?

    Because you are buying a pre-order and not actually physical goods, Tesco have been known to just swipe the points from you if you take the p**s. I’d be really careful. Buying 1 Xbox and 1PS3 per account over 10 accounts at various addresses however…..

    I would say 4 is too much. Remember that some people who bought 2 of the Dan Brown books had all their points stripped.

  Great to have this fantastic offer back!!! However, there are a few corrections to be made to the original post:

  1) “Visit the store on the day the game is released (5th November) and you are guaranteed to get a copy” – Strangely enough you are not actually guaranteed to get a copy on launch day. Tesco do not hold back stock to cover ‘pre-orders’. The voucher merely gives you a £5 discount on the game should there be stock remaining when you visit.

  2) “Note that the yellow label on the edge of the shelf will say 500 bonus points, although it goes through the till as 1,000 bonus points.” Obviously YMMV but the store that I visited had a shelf edge label showing the 1000 bonus points on offer.

  3) “There is no stated closing date for this offer, although it is only likely to run for a few days …..”
  The shelf edge label states that the offer is valid until 18/8/13.

    Thanks Adam. There are definitely some 500 point shelf labels out there! Cheers for the heads up on the closing date. I never, ever see these in the stores I visit.

      I visited the Bridgend store earlier. There was one left on the shelf, though when I took it to the till the cashier seemed not to be aware that she should keep it and had to check with a supervisor when I queried it.

      I wonder how many people have walked away with the empty boxes…

      The shelf edge labels in Bridgend say 1,000 points. I can’t really understand why anyone would do it without the points…..

      There were some 3V cards on display as well.

        I was given the empty box when the promotion ran last time in May for 500 points, took it with me today and scanned it again as there were no COD boxes on display at the Tesco I went to.

      My store had no labels so I was rather wary of buying them. I checked with customer services who knew nothing about the promotion, so I didn’t buy.

      I went back today and took them (still no stickers) to the checkout. I asked specifically about the promotion, neither the checkout girl nor her supervisor knew of the offer and nothing came up on the till screen. So, I was wary but knowing I could cancel the purchase, I bought them and lo! 2000 bonus points (I’ve a PS3 and Xbox obviously 🙂 ) appeared on my receipt.

  Tesco very kindly sent me a £7 off when you spend 50 voucher last week. Will get a couple with the weekly shop. 4800 avios for £3 can’t be bad!

  It says there is no obligation to buy the game – but if you do go to the store or pre-order online….you do have to purchase the game?

  I thought that if you did get a refund – they take back the points once refunded.

  Does that not happen?

    If you buy online. You are pre-purchasing the game and as a result, you will need to take delivery.

    The offer instore is different. You buy a £5 voucher now that allows you to redeem against the cost of the game on release. The error on Tesco’s part is that they give you 1k clubcard for £5. There is no obligation to purchase the game when it is released. You do however lose the fiver you spent. Given that you could sell the avios you get from your lost fiver for over 20 quid it is a great deal…..

      This offer is bonkers. Even in tesco’s own currency of vouchers, they are selling £10 for a fiver.

          You can’t! You can try going on ebay, offering Avios and then booking tickets from your account. However, BA starts auditing you once you redeem for more than ‘x’ different surnames from your account, and is also likely to be bidding on the odd ebay auction itself.

    There is no obligation to buy the game. You will not be jumped on the next time you enter the store!

  I will pick up a couple pre-orders with the weekly shop, and use a double-points coupon. You never know, it might work!

    Double points coupons are typically only on the base points. I.e the fiver. If you find that isn’t the case please report back quickly as some of us may need to run to Tesco quick smart!

      I often wondered this, what happens say on a bag of lettuce with a 25 points extra point coupon then use a double point coupon, would this be 50 points or just double on the £1 spend on the lettuce?

        Double points coupons only apply to the base points, not any bonus points.

          Double points vouchers only credit on base points and not bonus points. Sadly 🙂
