Last chance to convert Membership Rewards points to Jumeirah Sirius

A quick reminder that July 31st is the last possible day to transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Jumeirah Sirius.
Amex has been very sneaky (or very stupid) over publicising this.
On the US Amex website, they have been publicising this for many months. However, it is not mentioned on the UK Membership Rewards site at all. You ONLY get a message saying that they are leaving the programme if you do a transfer to Jumeirah – it then pops up in a message.
I get a feeling that quite a few people are going to be very annoyed with Amex (again) when this partner disappears with effectively no notice.
You can effectively get 1p per Amex Membership Reward by transferring your points to Sirius and using them wisely. I discussed in this post how you can redeem for meals or drinks in the Jumeirah hotels in London and get roughly 1p per Amex point.
Amex’s hotel partners are now, frankly, pathetic.
Club Carlson is the star draw, with a generous 1:3 conversion rate. However, Radisson simply does not have a very large footprint. I discussed in this post how you should be able to get 1p per Amex MR point with a transfer to Club Carlson.
Jumeirah now follows Priority Club and Marriott Rewards out of the Membership Rewards door.
Hilton remains, of course, but since their devaluation earlier this year, Hilton HHonors rewards are generally not great value. Only ‘cash and points’ redemptions remain a sweet spot, in my view.
Starwood also remains, but Starwood hotel redemptions are generally poor value for super-luxury properties at 30,000 points per night (60,000 Amex points) although they are a decent deal for their other hotels. The SPG programme, ironically, is best used to transfer Amex points into airline programmes like Miles & More which are not direct Amex partners.
