Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Up to 8,000 Clubcard points (19,200 Avios) when you buy Michelin tyres

Last August, I wrote about one of the latest Tesco ventures – Tesco Tyres – run by Scottish group blackcircles.com. Ironically, though, the promotion discussed here is not available via the Tesco Tyres website, only at blackcircles.

blackcircles.com offers Tesco Clubcard points on all makes and sizes of tyre, but this promotion is only for Michelin car and 4×4 tyres of 19 inches or greater diameter.  Here is the deal:

If you spend over £800, you will receive 8,000 bonus Clubcard points (19,200 Avios points or 20,000 Virgin Flying Club miles).

Spend between £600 – £800 and you will receive 5,900 bonus Clubcard points.

Spend between £400 – £600 and you will receive 3,800 bonus Clubcard points.

This is a substantial increase on the usual number of points you would have received, although the exact increase will vary depending on the combination of tyre sizes and number of tyres that make up your order.

If you take tyres smaller than 19 inches, the following Michelin bonuses apply:

If you spend over £800, you will receive 3,000 bonus Clubcard points.

Spend between £600 – £800 and you will receive 2,150 bonus Clubcard points.

Spend between £400 – £600 and you will receive 1,300 bonus Clubcard points.

All bonus points are ON TOP of the usual 1 Clubcard point per £1 spent!

This is a generous deal – at a valuation of 1p per Avios, you are getting the equivalent of 25% back in rewards! If you ended up converting the points to Avios during a bonus period, it would be an even better deal. The company claims it will attempt to price match if you can find a better deal elsewhere for the same tyres, so the Avios are genuinely a bonus on top.

It is not clear when this offer ends – there is no date on the website. It is certainly worth a look if you are in the market for new tyres.

Hidden away in FAQ is an undertaking to price match other suppliers if Blackcircles’ price is not the cheapest.

  • Me says:

Even if your not in the market tyre immediately, it is possible to order just the tyres and leave them in your garage until you need them fitted. I don’t know how much your local garage would charge just for fitting though.

    • Thunderbirds says:

Yes, you get the option of fully fitted or tyre only prices. I’ve used fully fitted once and on this sample size of one I though they were great..!

  • NohoMan says:

How about buy a set or two and sell them on EBay?

    • chris says:

might work tho only if you make sure its free collect locally, (tho if your going to do that just put them in the friday ad or gumtree and save 10% in fees)

postage would be far to much
