Guidestock – get paid for creating your own niche city guides

There is, it seems, no end to the different ways in which the internet and, specifically, mobile applications are changing the travel scene.
Guidestock – whilst still in beta at the moment – is a new take on the traditional travel guide. Basically, the company will pay you for creating walking tours about cities you know well. You will earn $10 for the first 15 guides you create, plus (for all of the guides you create) 50% of the revenue that Guidestock generates by selling them.
The Guidestock website allows you to create a walking guide for any city, and the walk can be as long or as short as you want. You can then annotate them with places of interest, and add a spoken commentary on top. When used on a mobile phone or a device with GPS, the guides will operate automatically.
The site has not yet officially launched, but it is accepting submissions if you wanted to create something. In London, for example, I can imagine plenty of possible options – gallery tours of East London, a tour of boutique clothing stores in Chelsea etc etc. The site is still a bit clumsy in places but does have interesting potential.
