Just a quick heads up, if you use an iPhone, that the new version of the British Airways app – released a couple of week ago – now supports Passbook.

Your boarding pass will now be stored directly in Passbook once you have checked-in online, and can be scanned as usual by the gate staff.

If you have still haven’t got around to using the BA app, then this may be the change you need to encourage you.

I used it to fly BA last weekend. I must say its a welcome improvement. Whilst the UI of the app itself hasn’t changed, one of the most useful features of passbook is the “show in lock screen”. When I would get to the bag drop/gate I would find myself fumbling my way through lots of apps to find the ba one and locate my boarding pass. This is no longer a problem as passbook puts an easy “swipe” from your lock screen which immediately opens the boarding pass. Simple, yet effective.

  • Andy says:

Does every separate member of your party have to have their own iPhone, or say for example I’m travelling with the wife + kids, can I put all the boarding passes on one phone?

    • Dave says:

Yes. Even if you could save multiple boarding passes on one phone it would slow things down at the gate as the gate agent would have to switch between different boarding passes rather than simply scanning the phone or a piece of paper.

Remember there’s also BA apps for Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry.
