I am pleased to say that I am now able to offer referrals for anyone thinking about taking out the Virgin Atlantic White or Virgin Atlantic Black credit cards.

I won’t go into the details of the two cards again, as I wrote about them two weeks ago as part of the ‘Credit Card Reviews’ series. You can read my Virgin Atlantic White review here and my Virgin Atlantic Black review here.

If you let me refer you for the cards, you will receive an additional bonus of 3,000 Virgin Flying Club miles.

Virgin White

This bonus is on top of the standard bonus:

For the White cards, you will receive a total of 6,000 miles for signing up. This is the usual 3,000 miles plus a further 3,000 miles for being referred.

For the Black cards, you will receive a total of 12,000 miles for signing up. This is the usual 9,000 miles plus a further 3,000 miles for being referred.

I also receive 3,000 Flying Club miles for referring you.

If you are planning to apply for either of the Flying Club cards, and want to receive the additional 3,000 miles, please e-mail me at rob at headforpoints.com for a referral. I will email you a special link which you should use to apply.

    Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help, when spending money on credit cards to reach goals for awarded avios points does eBay purchases count. The reason I ask is I am aware money transfers do not and essentially when paying for an eBay item you are just transferring money via PayPal? If I was to purchase something straight through PayPal via an invoice ( no eBay ) would this still be OK?

    Thanks in advance

    • Rob says:

You might get away with it as a one-off – it does count as a purchase and you pay the 3% or whatever fee. However, I would ONLY do it if your PayPal account is Verified, as is the receivers. PayPal is under a legal obligation to monitor transactions for suspicious activity and it will suspend your account and take your money if it doesn’t like the look of what you are doing. Plenty of stories online to back this up.

      • Dan says:

        Thanks for the fast reply.

Yes it is a one-off and we are both verified. Fingers crossed.

        Thanks again!

You can also reverse the transaction some time later (when your ‘real’ spend has reached the required threshold) and PayPal will refund the 3% fee. This just brings forward whichever bonus you want to trigger. If you use PayPal a lot (funded by credit card NOT you balance) the odd artificial transaction will not be noticed.
