Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

10,000 – 20,000 bonus Avios points when you fly Dublin to New York, even in discount Economy

Now here is a slightly odd one.

British Airways (note, BA and not AA) is offering 10,000 or 20,000 bonus Avios when you book yourself on the American Airlines new service between Dublin and New York JFK.

BA and AA Dublin

You get the 20,000 Avios points for a return flight in Business Class or with a flexible Economy ticket.  A cheap, non-refundable Economy ticket earns 10,000 bonus Avios for a return flight.

A one-way flight earns half of the bonus, but only if you fly Dublin to New York.  You get nothing for a one-way starting in New York.

Full details are here.

UK and Ireland BAEC members are eligible to take part.  Note that your booking must start in Dublin so you cannot book London to Dublin to New York on the same ticket – any connecting flight to Dublin must be on a separate ticket.

Flights must be taken by September 15th.

  • Sir Stamford says:

The reasons why BA is offering the bonus are:

    1. These are BA coded shared flights with AA (e.g. BA1522 is AA291).

    2. Matching AA who is also offering a similar 10k/20k promotion. Link: http://www.aa.com/viewPromotionDetails.do?fN=AAd_JFKDUB.xml

If you need to top up your AAdvantage account rather than Avios, it might be worth booking directly with them. The prices are exactly the same as BA, the last time I checked.

    Not available to Eurocheats

    • Sir Stamford says:

I thought the last date for Eurocheats was 29 February 2012 and most, if not all, can now “move” back to the UK if they so desire.

The only Eurocheats I know of these days are politicians who do not allow the British public to vote on our EU membership, but that’s a topic for Daily Mail, not here.

Apologies in advance as this is probably not the right place to post but just want to update on the “Exceptional 35,000 miles bonus for the FREE American Airlines credit card.”

    http://www.americanairlines.co.uk/i18n/specialOffers/exclusiveMbnaOffer.jsp?locale=en_GB

I have received the first 5000 bonus miles in my 1st statement and the points are already the AAdvantage account!

Also I held this card in 2011 and cancelled about 9 months ago before applying for the new offer so it does work…Hope this helps.

    • Rob says:

Thanks for the update Dan. I am waiting for my 1st statement … did the whole £5,000 in the first month so hoping the full 35,000 posts at once. Offer ends 31st May!
