Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Dan Brown back at Tesco with 500 bonus Clubcard points – just 0.75p per Avios

Back in February, Tesco Direct was offering you the chance to pre-order the new Dan Brown book for just £9. You got 500 bonus Tesco Clubcard points with each copy, so 1200 Avios or 1250 Flying Club miles!

Tesco quickly sold out of their pre-order allocation. Too quickly, as it turned out, because a lot of people had their orders cancelled.

More stock seems to have appeared, though, because the offer is back.

You can get 500 Clubcard points for pre-ordering the new Dan Brown book, Inferno (see here) and using code TD-MNRW at the check-out. You should actually order 2 copies, as book orders over £15 qualify for free postage!

Do NOT order more than 2 copies, though, as it is highly likely that Tesco will cancel your order.

The maths works out VERY nicely on this one, at 0.75p per Avios – and that is without any conversion bonus.

Tesco just emailed to say ‘problem with order’ and cancelled it. Starting to suspect i am on a watchlist! Only ordered one copy. Last time this happened i called them up and they allowed me to order it again!

  • Sinizterguy says:

My order (for two) cancelled with the ‘problem with order’ message too.

  • richie says:

they didn’t cancel my order for 50 books last time.it was a £450 spend and i got 25450 points. i ont convert them until the next bonus comes along. anyone know when that will be. by the way great site raffles!!

I suspect the next Avios bonus will be in July (end-of-month), they’ve tied up the Virgin bonus, so July/August appears the most likely. As the vouchers will be issued in the first week of May, they have already done their opt-in bonus, so July/August seems like a good bet.

I also notice that the US Amex has done their Avios conversion bonus, so the UK Amex conversion offer shouldn’t be too far behind, I suspect again, July/August for that one too. Seems like an apt period as most people will have used their Avios on summer deals.

Ordered, confirmed, cancelled. No email notifying me. Argh!!!

      Hello all,

Just to update you, the HP Ink promo I mentioned earlier now seems to include the whole usual HP ink range, rather than just two. Cheapest option (as last month), is approx. £8.50, need to purchase two for 500 points. For the eBay specialist within you, you can use a Tesco voucher for £10 off a £100 spend or more – should you decide to purchase 10+!

I have also noticed that you can get 3000 points extra for a Samsung BD-E8300 SmartHub/DVD player c.£255 – didn’t see that before. But there is a promo to further reduce the cost by £20 for any purchase over £200 too. Reasonable deal, but not the best points to £££’s ratio.

Ordered using above code, got bonus points, got confirmation email (eventually), so all looking good.

  • Ed E says:

On the other book pre-order note. I have not had them delivered yet but I have just had an email from Tesco with a £1.00 refund for each of the John Whaite Bakes books so only £9 in the end.

This pre-order price promise thing is really quite good and Avios just seem to get cheaper and cheaper!

My Dan Brown 2 books from yesterday seems to still be OK too.
