British Airways Executive Club promotional codes when joining BAEC

(EDIT:  As a lot of readers find this post directly via a search engine, I would like to say Welcome and to say that if you have ANY interest at all in Avios, British Airways Executive Club, air miles or hotel loyalty points then please stick around – there is a lot for you here!)

For as long as I can remember, there has been a box on the BAEC sign-up page to insert a ‘Promotional Code’.

A Head for Points reader emailed me over the weekend to ask if there was anything that should go in this box that would benefit them.

As far as I know, there is no current code. Has there ever been a working promo code?

Oddly, when I first signed up my daughter for BAEC (as part of a Household Account with her grandparents – as I didn’t want my account operating as a Household Account), she got a 5,000 Avios bonus for her first flight, which happened to be a Club Europe return. But I never entered any promotional code when I signed her up, and I haven’t heard of any ‘first flight’ bonus for at least 5 years either!

So … the point of this thread … have I missed anything?! Has anyone actually seen a ‘promotion code’ for joining the BA Executive Club? Has anyone enrolled a family member recently who got an unexpected bonus on their first flight? I like to think I see most deals, but perhaps there is something being advertised in a BA lounge or ‘High Life’ magazine somewhere which I’ve never seen ….?!

There have been codes in the past, specifically relating to the
    Taste of London event.

  • Andrew says:

I signed my mother up to BAEC through a Tesco promotion which got her 2500 avios a couple of years ago. I can’t remember if that was through a special link or using a code.

  • mdj1 says:

I’m sure when I signed up there were a few codes knocking about and I got a thousand or two miles after taking the first flight, but not seen any mention of any codes for a good few years.

  • James says:

Yes. ba.com/joinus used to work for a join-up bonus (either 5K, 8K, or 10K). The link still works but I don’t know if the bonus is still awarded ir not… Certainly the flyer mentioning ba.con/joinus is still on display in some BA lounges.

  • Scott says:

When I joined BAEC last year some time I asked the same question over at flyertalk.com and I think it was the general consensus there wasn’t any.
